Are the front body parts off of a 85 BJ70 compatible with a 98 HZJ75 pickup? Looking at front fenders, aprons, bib, hood, etc. What about doors? How about dash? What else might be useful?

The reason I ask, is that I already have the 75 and may end up with the 70. The 70 is trashed and I only want it for the drivetrain so I will be parting the 70 out. I don't really want to part it out but if the #'s work out, it is a feasible way for me to get a 3B/H55F drive train.

Anybody need anything off of a BJ70 not including the drive train? It does have a OME 2.5" lift. Will this fit anything besides a 70?

Any info greatly appreciated.

The doors no. The 75 series doors(or complete body) is mostly compatible with 73/74 series.

The 70 doors are the same as a troopy or 79 series pick up

Dash should be ok except the gauges.
There is some slight difference between the HZJ75 and BJ70 around the grill and where it fits to the fenders.

The rear 70 springs will fit 60/73/74 series ,the front springs will fit any 7* series except the coil sprung models

front group fits from 1984-2006- slight difference for plastic grill vs metal, but can be adjusted.

round top door (fixed top, BJ70, HZJ79) fits everything but ideally should be fixed top only.

square top doors (73/4 and 75 pick up) door frames ONLY fit removable top trucks.

Rear doors change over.

dash etc has slight differences in 1990 change over but both fit.

I have found transporting 70 series to part out is a cost looser. try just getting the drive-train and getting the other sheet metal goodies new, from ens, or from the dealer.

Thanks for the info. No go on the doors. The dash should work but not the gauges. Just out of curiosity, how come the gauges won't work? Is it because of the 3B and 1HZ differences?

If I use the fenders, aprons, bib and grill..... will all this work with the 75 cowling?

All the front body parts will work on your HZJ75.

Regards,
Thanks for that

Also, is the BJ70 power steering box the same as on a 60? The reason I ask is that this drive train could potentially go in my FJ55. I know people use the 60 boxes for power steering upgrades on their 55's but will a BJ70 box work as well?

well you could flip the pitman arm but then it would steer in the wrong direction
That might be something I could get used to!! Also, if a thief stole the truck, they may not get too far.
Thanks for the info.

Ill retract that . The tacho wont work as they recognise different signals. The HZJ75 dash fascia has a timing belt light but the temp ,voltage, oil pressure and fuel gauges should be ok.
I was thinking the 98 HZJ75 had a dash layout like a 79 series.

Yeah they fit with some slight mods to the mounting holes. Here's a 75 with an 07+ front end. Pretty sure there's a thread on mud about it

If I had an account on the page, can't recall login criteria. Couldn't resist posting excerpts from the thread, and easiest way I know to do.

'Nuff said....

Try it in the U.S....

Compared to custom cut fenders that may never look right, regardless the fortune spent, it may be the cheapest method, surely the more elegant.

Doesn't seem that much work, to me.

Will be fabbing inners, anyway, so as long as the outer fenders and hood bolt up, extent of my concerns.

Thanks again, @Locked79, for the link.

Searched and that's the most conclusive information I've found.
