1969 Toyota Landcrusier FJ40.

I have too many projects and not enough time or space. I am parting with this FJ40 and concentrating on other projects. I really wanted to build this one as it is V8 powered but as I wrote, I am short on time and it is taking up a large section of my workshop. I am asking $3500 or best REASONABLE offer. I am not giving it away as it has good components. It has no fees and is non-op’d.

It has 350 fuel injected Chevy V8 with computer and Hedman Shorty Headers. The headers are new from Summit. Transmission is a 700R4 bolted to a NP205 transfer case. The power train was taken from a 1989 Blazer. The motor and transmission mounts are quality.

There is a brand new Griffin aluminum radiator and transmission cooler, also from Summit. There is also a Toyota truck power brake booster mounted.

The frame was completely treated with POR-15. It has a custom square tube front bumper that is bolted, not welded to the frame. It has a Saginaw power steering box already mounted to the frame. The bolt holes are sleeved and strong.

The body is sitting on mounts that look good with 1 inch solid steel lift blocks.

The front axle is a FJ40 front, with disk brake swap from a mini, ARB locker, old foothill hi steer arms, chevy 1ton tie rods with dom, studs changed out to 9/16ths(dana 44), 5th stud, poly inner axles, long birfs, and cut and turn.

The rear axle is a narrowed and centered FJ80 with disc brakes. I believe it has a limited slip differential. Both axles are mounted to FJ60 springs and are sprung over. The perches on the front are not welded yet.

The body is fair. It has rust in the normal places. I removed the all the gauges and interior trim, intending on POR-15 treating and then Rhino-lining. It has a GM column. It does have a hard top and full doors. The fiberglass top will need to be reattached to the metal sides.

There are boxes of parts in the back, including the engine computer, headlight bezels, and other parts. I have a fiberglass fuel tank.

This would be a great project for someone with time and mechanical ability. I will NOT NOT NOT part it out, so please do not ask.

Now for the bad:
I have never fired the motor. The person I got it from said the power train was in an 89 Blazer that was rolled. He drove the Blazer a couple hundred miles where he took the parts he needed. The motor turns. I put a new filter on the transmission and resealed the pan. The transmission does have one bolt ear one the passenger side that is broken from the bell-housing. It looks like at one point, someone tried to mate the trans to the motor by using the bolts (bad idea with aluminum tranny). The transfer case shifts and the yokes turn with each other.
There is no wiring, except for the engine wiring which is still attached to the engine and sensors. The computer is in a box and only requires about 5 external wires to operate once plugged into the harness. I do have a universal Painless Type Wiring Harness that I will consider parting with if the price is right.

There are no seats.

Needs a windshield.

The wheels are 15” steel wagon wheels with tire that are safe enough to roll across the yard and onto a trailer. They are NOT road worthy. Included is an extra set of wagon wheels and mud tires that have a lot of tread on them. They are not mounted as one has a slow leak.

I am sure there are things I have forgotten so please email me with any questions and photos. Once again, no parting out and I am asking $3500 or best REASONABLE offer.

I have not listed on Craigslist yet as I hate that site for all the spam and fraud so I thought I would list it here first.

I also have a sweet 1973 that I will be listing soon. It is a runner and all there with the stock motor and plenty of extra cool stuff, like second fuel tank, family cage, tire rack, extra SM420. Just haven't taken pictures yet.
