Hey Kenny, I looked but can't find the info on what year/make the bucket seats were from.
Posting a couple of pics. Maybe someone here recognizes these seats and knows what kind of car they are from. I think they are pre-95.

Anyone know what these seats are from??

Thanks for posting up the pic's mike. I did a little googling, they sure look like seat out of a early 90's honda accord. Trying to find a site that show dimensions so I can see if they are the same.

little closer

Got the seat frame all tacked in and test fit the seats.

Baby gets a new pair of shoes....

Pulled the top off and took the roll cage out for welding...

5 point harness attachment points...

The best news...I got the windshield installed so now it's road ready. Time for some seat time.

Ooops

Well, in the last post I said the best thing was getting the windshield in. I wish I would have remembered that when I whipped out the grinder :bang::bang::bang: Fragged the brand new windshield and rear view mirror. Pretty disappointing.

Here are a couple shots of how it sits now. Rebuilt the rear rack that was on it when I rolled it. It got bent up a little, just had to replace the main frame work and weld the tire rack and cooler rack back on. I think I'm going to change it later but I needed something quick. Leaving this morning for a little excursion.

Got the roll cage epoxy primered so it doesn't rust. Going to put bed liner eventually.

That's how it sits for now. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the electrical system. When I hit the brakes my indicator lights come on. I have checked the grounds on everything that was removed, even ran some new grounds. Haven't found the culprit yet though.

It runs though and I'm going to play with it. Off to meet Miker for a trail ride........

Your cruiser looks great! I didn't get very good pics but here it is on the Snake Lake Trail.

Good times as always Mike. Hope we can do it again soon.

Sweet shot of your cruiser and the sunrise. Award winning shot there.

Got the compressor all plumbed into the roll cage and fully functional on Sunday. The cage holds a lot more air than I thought. Should work out sweet.

Still can't figure out why my turn signals come on when I hit the brakes though. Guess that will have to wait til I get back.

The seats look a lot like what I had in my '82 SR5 4WD Pickup, just reupholstered.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I ordered seat covers for a 90-95 4runner. Hope they fit. The people at the seat cover place were absolutely zero help. I thought maybe they could give me some measurements to check or something. No help at all.

Wipers

Since it snowed the other day I figured it's probably time to get the wiper conversion done. Changing over from the old single marine style and moving into the 70's

Got the motor all mounted up. I tested it while I had it on the bench. Had high and low speeds. Opened up the gear boxes and checked the grease. Everything looked perfect, added a little fresh grease and buttoned everything back up.

Using this schematic below I decided to run the wires temporary and test things out.

Well.....first run not so good. Pulled the switch to low speed and popped a 30 amp fuse. So....I pulled the switch apart to see how things looked inside.

Everything looked good inside the switch. Replaced the fuse, rechecked the wiring against the schematic and tried it again. Popped the fuse again. Replaced the fuse and tried pulling the switch quickly to the high speed. Bingo, works like a charm. When I shut the wipers off they even park.

So I guess tomorrow I get to open up the motor and see if there is a reason for the fuse blowing on the low speed setting  Nothing comes easy around here.

That's one hefty roll cage you built, well done!

Thank you. That was a fun project getting everything to fit the way I wanted it to. It was a real challenge squeezing it through between the doors and windshield latches, getting the right elevations so the bi-fold door would work. Still have a few more things to do to finish it up. Need to make solid mounts for the body I can tie the cage into the frame.

Thanks again for the compliment. That's the first cage I have ever built. I could have bought 3 of them for what it cost me to build. But I couldn't have bought one that would fit like I wanted. But on the bright side....now that I have built the bender, bought the dies I can make some other stuff I have been wanting. I also have the 73 FJ40 that needs some lovin.

Seat covers

Well, I never did get any help from the seat cover manufacturer trying to figure out what seats I have. So I took a guess and ordered neoprene covers from Cover King to fit a 91 4 runner. I got lucky, I think they fit sweet.

While I was at it I slipped some seat heaters under them for a little added comfort :D

Should be nice and toasty this winter with the new hardtop and seat heaters.

Now if I could just figure out how to get the low speed working on the wipers I would be really, really happy.

Yep, they are Mike. Made out of neoprene wet suit material. They are pretty comfy. Time will tell how well they hold up. They weren't cheap so I'm hoping they last.

Looks like things are coming together on the 45. Sweet.

I'm waiting on a new piece of glass for the passenger door. I ordered all new glass for this. The last piece I go to put in and its cracked. Not sure if I did it or it came that way. Hopefully get that today so I can assemble the door and get the hard top on before it starts raining too hard.

wiper motor

Had some issues too with the wiring of the wiper motor of our 71 fj40. The wire colors at the motor don't go one on one but change in the connector.

there is info on coolermans site: http://www.globalsoftware-inc.com/coolerman/fj40/5G.htm

don't remember if it blows fuses or just doesn't work.

Good luck, Paul.

EDIT: just found your other thread about the wipers, you already found the info...

Nice

Houston, we have lift off. Wipers are fully functional  Thanks for the helping hand on that one guys.

I decided to install some plugs in case I need to take the motor off.

After getting everything installed and functional I decided to 180 the wiper motor and put it on the passemger side where it belongs ;)

After swapping everything around I discovered another little flaw in my conversion. When I drilled the holes for the wiper arms I centered them horizontally in the windshield frame. Well in real life they are offset towards the drivers side about 8" from where I have them.

The end result is...the passenger will be able to see really well, the driver maybe 75% really good. Bummer. All I can say is, good enough for now. Going to be a lot of work to fix it. That will have to wait for a later date.

Start running wires for the seat heaters and CB radio tomorrow. Still no glass for the passenger door, looks like next week for that one.

@*#$!^@# Wiring

Ever since I got the rig back from painting, I have had a problem with the turn signals, or should I say lack of. No blinkers until I hit the brakes, then all 4 corners would light up. I have been through every connection twice taking things apart, cleaning paint from grounds, even ran some new grounds to the frame.

I spent the last day and a half attacking this issue again.

I rang out every single connection. Removed all of the sheathing from the harness and traced wires. Miker put a nice Centech harness in this baby when he built it. Everything was working perfectly before I rolled it. I'm thinking it has to be something on the fenders or front bib, all that new paint and reassembly.

This rig is now so well grounded you can touch the meter to any 2 parts and it will ring loud and clear:) Still have the same problem.

Well...while reaching in to turn the key off, I feel this little knob on the chevy steering column. What the heck is this?? Hazard switch, huh... Apparently either during the roll over or all of the work that has taken place, this got pushed in which should have actuated the hazard lights.

So long story short, after pulling the switch out, bingo, everything works as it's supposed to. Except for the hazard lights:bang: I guess it pays to check for the obvious things first. You know what the first three letters of assume are :D

wow, I never thought about the emergency flasher switch.

good job finding that

I seem to recall now getting frustrated at trying to figure out how to get the flashers to work correctly. I guess I never figured it out... :-(

I'm pretty sure they are going to stay "not figured out" Mike. :) I have plenty of other stuff to keep me busy right now. At least I have turn signals now.

I slobbered some POR on the insides of the doors before assembling for the final time I hope.

No pic's yet but I finally got the glass for the passenger door today. Got everything assembled with new window seals and all. I bought some of those little clips that are Toyota specialty for holding the rubber window seals in the doors. Outrageous price from SOR and they don't hold the rubber in. Complete pain in the A$$. Got everything assembled, barely touched the rubber seal and I heard it pop loose.

Got the hard top assembled, rigged up, raised up and installed. Nice :D Bolt everything down tomorrow, weather stripping on the doors and I'll be ready for a test drive with the new (to me) hardtop.
