62 trans/tcase swap into FJ80

Im looking to find out if any knows why this swap wouldnt work or if there are any hurdles I might run into? Im not getting much info on the 80 side so wondering if the 60 guys would know. Its not a big deal if no one has done this before, Ill be attempting it this week.

I dont think they match up. There was a thread a while ago about this, and someone posted up why it would not work. Difference in the tranny I think. Even though they are the same the 80 sereis case is much different and something was off with a shaft or somthing. If you search you will find it. I was planning on swapping a 62 case into my 80 when I planned on tearing the thing apart to throw under a 60.

Search in 80 series tech....was a few months ago.

Found it, Dec '05. I do have the complete truck so Im thinking if I do need to swap anything I have it there. Ill be trying it anyway.

my guess would be to swap the tranny as well. Just swap everything from the bellhousing on back.

That was the plan since I have to do the rear main seal..

Hopefuly everything from the flywheel back should bolt right up.... we'll see.
