I searched and found nothing i was looking for
62 is running hot once i get going down the road and once I come to a light/stop sign it shoots higher. Fan is not real loose and resists spinning. I tried squeezing the top hose and Water pump seems to work ok too. I noticed the resevoir take was below the "low" line so i filled it up to about 1/2 way between the Full and Low lines and drove it around the hood and the next day checked it and it was back down low again. I was thinking maybe thermostat but i am not sure. anyone got any ideas?

Look for coolant leaks. rear heater hoses, heater core, block, radiator, etc. Is it running less than perfect lately? (thinking head gasket) How old is the rad? Air pocketing? Thermostat, fan clutch (yeah, I know you've checked it)

Keep searching 'Mud for other fixes; this really has been covered many times before.

HA HA, you won a lemon :flipoff2:

kidding man, dont know anything specific that hasnt been mentioned, but i rememeber you said you put some lights up front on the bumper. Is there any chance they could be blocking airflow? or was it doing this from the getgo w/out the lights?

edit: are you speaking of the rad. overflow tank?

Did you do anything with the cooling system lately that could have introduced air to the system? Does running both heaters on full blast help? Are you getting good heat out of them?

i did put some lights on the front bumper and it does block some airflow but i wouldnt think it would be enough to make it run hot. I may pop em off and se if that helps. The rear heater hoses seem to possibly have a leak and the heater doesnt heat up real good maybe thats creating it. Head Gasket should be good Engine was rebuilt a couple months ago. Hasnt been running weird no.

I had a similar issue. the radiator was full of coolant. the reservior was at about half. It was still hot. I burped my coolant system and found it to be a whole gallon low on radiator coolant. I have a leak in my rear heater hoses too but after I burped it, the temp gauge stays in the middle.

have you burped the coolant system yet?

try finding a steep incline, point the front of the truck toward the top turn heat on, front and rear, full blast to get everything moving let it run for a while any air should make its way to the radiator. also take off the radiator cap to let the air escape and then refill any make up coolant you need. cool idea from the collective wisdom here can't remember which thread it came from. seems so simple when you think about it, but with all the flush and refils i have done, I never thought about burping it that way.

nice i willl give the burping a shot. How long should it take and should I expect a burst of coolant to go all over everything?

For the most part the bubbles come up pretty gently. As the air comes up and coolant level goes down, keep adding coolant. Run it plenty long enough for the thermostat to open, and occasionally squeeze the top radiator hose as that helps expel air trapped there. When it quits bubbling, fill your overflow reservoir and replace the cap. Then for the next several drives keep a close eye on the reservoir. Additional air will bubble into that and coolant will be drawn from the reservoir into the radiator to replace it.

Later,
Butt

dude! I appreciate the help. I will let you know how it goes. Sounds relatively simple. thanks again.
