Ok, I got my trail assignments from rising sun today. One that I picked was pritchett canyon. For those you know my rig and that trail... do you think I'm asking too much of my rig to do that trail? I'll also drew Elephant hill and Behind the Rocks.

Oh, and to keep this tech... I built some brackets to move my bumper up about 4 inches from the stock location. I'll snap some pics tonight.

I dont know your rig but here is a similar one from some years ago. ;)
Rocker Knocker is the one to look forward to.

He did make it up there while i took some pictures but had to push it very hard.

I decided not to try that with a less build up 60 and went out the other way.

But thats a different story. ;)

Save it for the last day isnt a bad recommendation.

Pictures can speak a thousand words... thanks. My rig is (by the looks of it) a bit more built than those two so maybe its doable. Any other opinions?

Two ARB´s and two spare Birfields........?:p

never been there. So I say yes its doable.:D

Elephant Hill, no issues....behind the rocks.....same.

I never ran Pritchett.....good luck!:p

Well, I'm running 30 spline bobby longs... hopefully there wont be a need for spares. My rig is a a tbi 350, th350 to a 4.0 toybox/splitcase, ARBs front/rear, SOA on 39.5s.

Lol, my main concern is rolling since I dont have a cage and will have a passenger with tme. Flopping isnt my first choice to do but if it happens it happens... I wont get my panties in a wad about and it'll make building a buggy or "buggizing" my 60 a really easy decision.

Piece of cake with that rig and if.....it was a drivers fault.:steer::doh:;)

Your golden, that trail gets built way up........its hard but its not impassable

What are the specs of your rig? Who is leading the trail (yes I know you'll have to ask)? Any other wagons you know of? Any folks you normally wheel with on the trail?

I've never done Pritchett in a 60 but I've done it my 80s a couple of times and I used to wheel a 60 so I can relate to the big box. Rocker Knocker was the one obstacle from the photos that always scared me. The last few years though have led to a bypass being created for it. The other hard obstacle is right before the Rock Pile (or lack of rock pile for about 4-5 years). It is a long jagged climb. The first time I did this in my 91 I had to winch that section. I did not have a front locker (Wed prior to CM), but there was only one rig in our group that did make it that day and we had a guy with dual ARBs, 38s, Toybox etc... in his 40 and he couldn't make it either. To me, that is the toughest point for a wagon as you have to descend into a hole to turn to get the right line to go up the ledge. Watch your PS rear window on the big rock. The next go around in the 94 with both lockers I didn't have any problems anywhere on the trail. We did the whole trail in less than 3 hours (running with Barry and a bunch of truggies and really built 40s), probably a CM record. The bypass to the rockpile, which most wagons take, is getting tougher. I wouldn't worry about it though. I would not attempt the rock pile in a full bodied wagon. At that point in the trail you should be in tune with your rig and just pick your line and walk right up it.

I think PismoJim has done Pritchett in his 60 a few times. You might PM him for advice.

Now Behind the Rocks, that is a trail I have fear of. Once was enough. That last obstacle is insane in a big heavy wagon. I have no desire to do that trail again. I was with all 40s that day though. And I was tired as we did Pritchett, Hunter Canyon, and Behind the Rocks all in one day. I guess Christo is a pretty good leader on that run.

Ughhh! read your specs that you just posted. You won't have a problem with that rig. I still wouldn't advise and attempt on the Rock Pile though and I still think Behind the Rocks sucks in a big heavy rig. My above advice was for a 35"ish tired dual lockered 60 with some ring and pinion attempts at lowering crawl ratio.

Front axle I would not worry about...Now the rear....:hhmm:

Kick the passengers out for the hard stuff. I always do. Oh and duck if you roll, the roof normally crushes to the dash with a horrible sound. Now flopping, just try driving out of it :D

yeah... I'm worried about the rear too. Hopefully snappin rear axles is just a Florida thing. :flipoff2: Dirtgypsy has a set for me for the trip if the need arises.

you'll be fine

you'll be fine. I would love to be there to see you tackle some of those spots but port62 and I will be on golden spike and hells revenge. hit me up this week on those axles and the roof rack.

oh, post some pics of the bumper set up (rear too)

clint

coolio... I'm going to try to hit Hell's revenge at night and Golden spike/Rusty Nail on Wed if time allows.

I'll hit you up sometime this week and maybe we can meet up this weekend. How's the little one?

The only thing will be your tip over height but not too much off camber except the entrance ledge. It was filled in with dirt and paved with gravel but it was such a strong year that it has all washed away. This is the only mildly scary spot with a tall wagon with 60 series wheelbase. Otherwise, as long as your axles hold up you will be fine. Pitchett is a very fun trail. Word on the street is the trail has eroded badly so is extra hard this year. Double lockers, gearing, and 35s bare min. The Cruise Moab guys know what they are doing, they wouldn't have assigned you if they thought you couldn't make it...
