Hi,

I have finally been able to pinpoint my source of vibration. Its the 5speed gear in my J200. Got it confirmed from a very experienced garage, after explaining my scenario to him. He also mentioned that its a very small issue and that it can be driven without any problems, but i just dont like even a small vibration in my j200.

So after changing the transmission mounts and driving for about 3 months, i noticed that my mounts bolts had become loose (dont know why, it was tight torque spec). I have this body vibration very minor (but still present), like a mobile vibration on the steering wheel, floorboards, seats etc. (not the left right sway, due to balancing issue), felt at speeds above 110kph all the way to 140 kph, (fifth gear 2100-2600rpm) & becomes smooth at 150kph and above.

My drive shafts, axles, cv joints, tyres all are good condition, checked and confirmed many times at different places. The gear oil is relatively new (been driven for about 20k kms since the change)

So, with respect to the gear. The shifting is smooth upshift, but downshift from 4-3 gives a jerk as well as 3-2 small, but felt.

My question is, what should i look to change in the gearbox:
1. Torque converter
2. Solenoid things
3. Transmission fluid
4. Any bearing which wears out first
5. Anything related to transfer case.

Do let me know. thanks.
I may be wrong, i am not an expert on this matter.

Very few 200 section members have the 5 speed. You might get more ideas in the 100 section, where that transmission was used for several years (2003-2007 as I recall).

Some have had luck with the Shudder Fix in the A750. 100 series have this transmission from 2003+ and so do other Toyota models like the Sequoia and Tundra. I have also read a few threads where the fluid level was incorrect. Have you flushed with fresh fluid 12qts and verified the fluid is up to temp and at the right level?

Lots of reading elsewhere on the web as well...

@2001LC is basically the greatest 100 series expert of all time and might have good input...

I had tried 1 bottle of lubegard platinum as recommended by them (had sent a mail to them and they had recommended it to me) they also told to use a second bottle if the problem still persist. Will hav to try that as well.

When i had changed my trans fluid i remember my mechanic changed about 5ltrs or less definitely not 12qts.

Will have a look on the link you have sent

Thanks, will post it there also…yes here in the gcc they had used this 5spd until i think 2016 after which they had introduced a 6spd in the same 1gr fe engine
