Is a standard wall thickness going to fit or do I need a thin wall type to remove the hub? Doing front axle rebuild next weekend. Thanks

The standard sockets Ive seen that big are too thick to fit . I just got a 54mm stamped steel hub socket since the nuts aren't really that tight at all and Ive been known to just use a hammer and screwdriver to take them off when in a real pinch (like at the "pick and pull" when I found birfs while on the creep for other car parts ,hell $5 for trail spares I cant pass it up )

The big heavy 2-1/8" Craftsman socket I use has always worked fine.

whole threads on this... S...E....A....R....C....H.....?

All the ones I have found local are the 6 point impact type :frown: Thats why I went with the OTC type ,plus it was in the clearance bin at the local swap-meet tool gypsy tent

I agree with KLF that the Craftsman 2 1/8" socket will do the trick. I have personally used this Craftsman 3/4" drive socket at a one time cost of $26.00 to replace my front rotors. Works Great!!!! Once you purchase it, you will have it for life!!!
