5 to 6 cranks to starts

Are we talking 5-6 separate cranks on the ignition cylinder or 5-6 perceived revolutions of the crank?
Revolutions. Another thread on here used the ugha chuga chuga chuga shorthand, so I'm goin with that. I had an ugha followed by 5-6 chuggas, and now at times 10. I replaced the starter now too, so I have new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator valve, PCV valve and lines, starter, battery, battery terminals, and have checked my grounds. Next up I'm going to do injectors because it's at 230k miles and a fuel filter. Will report back after this.

What reading did you get and was it within specification according to the FSM?
Have you followed the troubleshooting steps in the FSM?

More suggestions:
  1. Pull your belts and spark plugs
  2. rotate engine with starter to make sure it whiiirrrrrs
  3. hand rotate all accessories to check for a bad bearing, probably not
  4. Check compression
  5. Check leakdown if needed
  6. Install new plugs if you haven't already
  7. Check spark output when cold
  8. Buy or borrow injector dummy light and ensure they're triggering right when you crank
  9. Use some jumper cables to add extra grounds
  10. Try using a jump box or jump start from another vehicle
I have a 1995 and noted that the fuel pump on our trucks doesn't prime with key on ACC. Unsure if this is normal. I like the couple extra cranks as it probably gets a little oil priming before firing up.

Yes yes. I didn't have the banjo bolt to check FP, but I dropped it off at a shop yesterday morning that has the equipment to check FP. I will go from there. Still wanted to replace the fuel pump and the injectors, so not unhappy with work already done. But assuming at this point there is bleed down and it's likely the injector seals going out OR there's a leak in some line somewhere.

Done 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 (via a jump pack). At a shop now to get compression and leakdown--didn't have the right equipment. Will update as I learn/try more.

As opposed to replacing injectors, you can send them out to be serviced.

The shop didn’t have the equipment?
Have you replaced your crank sensor? Try to get the compression and leak down done first.
