Does anyone know of a supplier that sells the high pressure line from Stock 5.3L GM power steering pump to a Saginaw Gear box?

The GM power steering pump looks like it requires an 0-ring fitting and the saginaw box requires flare fittings.

Here are the GM pump lines you can see them just above the steering shaft. Does anyone know the size/thread pitch of the high pressure line from the stock GM pump?

also, does anyone know the standard flare fitting size of the saginaw gearbox?

Everything depends on the year of the box and pump. There are brass adapters from 0-ring to flare so that you can use flare at both ends. But, you're liable to find that the pump is metric and the box is SAE. It's easier to just make your own hose using -6AN fittings and the correct inverted flare or O-ring adapters to the box and pump. I just went through it with a '96 pump (16mm O-ring) to a '78 Jeep J-20 box (11/16-18 inverted flare, IIRC) using Aeroquip hose and reusable fittings. It's a little more expensive than a stock hose, but you can make it exactly as you prefer and you can carry a length of spare hose in case you ever have an issue on the trail.

You need to figure out what your pump and box fittings are.

Thanks Geezer this is a great way to go. I like it quite a bit. Does the hose require special tools to cut to length? when i ran the SS braided fuel lines, i just used chop saw and it worked fine. i assume i could do the same with this line?

No special tools required for any of it. I use my pneumatic angle grinder to cut the hose (it does have steel braid under the blue braid), because the grinder gives it a nice clean cut. It does help to have a vise to hold the outer shell while you screw the end fitting into the shell and the hose, but you could do it with a couple of wrenches. Oil the fitting/hose up well and they go together very easily. Buy a 6' length of hose and pack away 3'+ in your trail spares.
