I'm on a small committee of the 4WDABC charged with developing a 4WD Handbook - actually a booklet. If any of you have some examples (downloadable) or ideas, let me know. We already have a couple larger handbooks, but need to produce something in booklet form. Thanks

A committee of one?

are you looking to make one of just pilfer from other's existing books?
if you are making one what are you looking for? how large of a pamphlet? is this going to be a "how to off-road for dummies" deal or are you actually assuming that those who read it have some "uncommon sense"? is it in relation to just driving or is it recovery, spotting, "what happens when you're stuck", a little basic first aid, tree cutting, etc?looking for good off-road ethics in there too?

I see how this works....
I can definitely contribute to this with whatever knowledge I do have (which some may say is very limited - I'll save you all the time of making insults). I'd be up for throwing some ideas into the pile, we could even do stuff with some photos of scenarios, etc. What are you trying to accomplish? what type of crowd is this directed towards? how detailed and how many topics do you want to cover?

The committee is actually 3 people - even then it is hard to get our stuff together. We are looking to create a "give away" handbook with just the basics. I expect it would be 20-30 pages of 8.5 by 5.5 (standard letter paper done in half and stapled in the middle. It is meant for the new wheelers who have zero o little experience. So, it's just enough to get them into trouble. :D

Mat (or anyone), if you got specific suggestions, shoot them to me at my email elbosque at rapidnet.net.

Sonny, I'd like to take a look at your book. Could i pick it up from you next week in Abby?

All those topics sound great, I would run off thousands of copies and distribute them through out Maple Ridge and Mission if I knew the morons that trash the trails out there could read them, maybe more pictures is the key.

You're talking about Sylvester and 'Little Iraq', I presume.

I'm not sure how much headway we can make with firearms owners and their behaviour in the back country but it could be attempted, but not under the banner of the 4WDABC. What the issue in this case is basic littering, clean up after yourself.

Met with Phil from the Herd in Chilliwack on the way out on this weekend's work trip. We decided our large committee would be shrunk to the two of us. WE came up with a lost of topics and some questions for the 4WDABC board which will help guide how big and expensive this will be. He'll present our plans to the 4WDABC meeting this coming week and then we will be posting up the topic headings and soliciting help from our respective clubs. I will move it into our private section then. Hopefully we can have it ready for printing within two months.
