I had what I thought to be a bad u-joint, but after the removal of the drive shaft I got a couple table spoons of gear oil that flowed from under the nut. Hmmm......grabbed the flange play and it moves as you can see in the video below.

the play looks fine, just normal backlash in the gears. if theres play up and down then that's a problem. do you have any gear oil leaking down the diff from the pinion
