Okay there is a big difference between the internal workings of the shifter:
Push button: 1988 fj 62 t-case
4H to 4L shaft is shorter and has "NO" indents
for the ball and spring to hold the shaft in or
out , and has a spring and bolt on the back
side of the shifter fork.
Things to change:
Shaft - for 4H to 4L.
shaft - For 2H to 4H and you'll need to also change the lever that bolts to that shaft, because it is on a different angle and is also longer.
The bolt in the H55f tranny that the 4x4 shift works on, it is about 1.5" longer on the manual t-case.
( the bolt is longer on the 1985 fj60 h55f then the 1988 fj62)
But I'm using 1983 fj60 t-case parts (I also have a 1985 h55f and manual t-case out of a fj60 to compare as well) but I like the 1988 fj62 t-case better and will be drilling and tapping the case for the shifter bolt and spring and ball. It has better oil journals.
I will take pictures and show everyone what and how i do it. tomorrow ( saturday) Just wanted to let everyone know.
