Dropped off a set at local fabricator here in Escondido. He wants $1500 for the first set, $400 for the 2nd and 3rd ones and maybe less if 5 sets ordered.

Anyone interested. looks like it could be around $500 each if 5 sets are ordered.

I talked to the local place and I had to get 100 sets min..
or if you get enough people interested I can have the local rubber place but it would take at least 30 people to make it work. Dunno if there were 30 shortys out there. could probably get them here for about 300 a set if we got 30 + people. cheaper the more people that go. I just don't have 8k sitting here right now.

How about trying a different 'track' with these places. Since I am sure that the bulk of the $$ involved is for the time it takes to make the mold, it seems to me that it would be worth asking if they would accept 'help' from someone in making the mold.

What I am getting at is if we could learn the process by which the mold was made, perhaps that portion of the work could be sub-ed out to someone with bodyshop skills or something like that, maybe even a 45 member with a vested interest in getting it right.

Doesn't hurt to ask.:)

Just happened that I ran into someone this weekend who may be able to take this on. He also has some other interesting manufacturing sources as well. Well see what pans out.

Shane, I'm changing to a removable top cab, so you are more than welcome to take on the project. Figured the 3" and top that comes off is more to my liking.
