So the Mrs and I are driving up towards Portland today, and I mention the 45 run. She asked when and were, and when I told her it was close to Yosemite when we were going to be there anyway, she immediately replied: "Well we have to go then."

HAVE to?

So thanks to Travis, Jerod, and the :princess:'s for helping to corrupt her at the BBQ.

Oh and looks like I'm getting some new shoes before then too. I think I'm going with the 35's from TireRack. She likes the idea of her truck looking tougher with my 31's, and wants to know why she can't have the 35's.

So.....belly armor (we got a deadline now Travis!), 1" body lift, and 35's.....it'll be like driving a whole different truck than the last McGrew run.

Getting one...figured you had an armory:grinpimp:
LoL, I know what I want they just cost too much. Plus normal "guns" (weapons) aren't as fun after M60's, SAWs, 50cal's, M203's : ) etc

Yeah, but I'm no longer stock. :grinpimp:

Someone on the 80's forums is running 35's with no rubbing in daily driving (except when turning sharply to the left).

I know that stock (as per Slee) you can run 33's without rubbing, though some folks have reported with more extreme crawling to be able to get them to rub.

My thought is that 33's to 35's is only an inch taller (into the wheel well) and I should have that inch from my body lift....

So theoretically I can wheel with them with only minor rubbing. Garrett suggested (and it's a good idea) to add 1" spacers to the springs (relatively cheap) to eliminate even that chance of rubbing (and improve articulation).

We'll soon find out.

Well thats 2" of lift from the wheels to the body. I'm just letting you know that it will be tight. I have seen 60's running stock with 35's. Its just tight and yours is a fairly nice rig and it would be a pitty to see a fender crunched cause the tires gave less than a fender : (

Is anyone else interested in making that? I'm going for sure. But at this point, it'll probably 100% be in the Honda. So if one other person wants to go, and doesn't mind hitching a ride/walking into camp possibly... the last 1-2 miles (Cause the Honda isn't getting that far down that road!) They are welcome, as is any gas money.... :D Or if we get more takers, and someone else wants to drive, we can do that too... and split gas $$. There is some fun wheeling down there for sure, and it gets as rough as you'd like it.

Jerod you still need a ride? Looks like the :princess: and I just might be going for the whole run!

What happened to your yosemite plans? I'm still going, but have to go on Sat morn, and come back on mon.... What's you schedule like?

We're still going, but looks like my folks are bailing early so it provides us the perfect excuse to go wheeling. :hhmm:

We'll be heading in either Fri or Sat, and coming back Mon. And as for the ride I was more referring to the last section as you mentioned that your ricer....er...Honda isn't going to make it.

BTW where do I sign up for the run?

Oh, I'll be fine, the parking lot is only a mile or so from camp... :D Plus I know plenty of people to hitch a ride with!

Cool.

Where do I sign up? (Or do I?) Is there camping availible? Reservations needed? Etc....

Well, you missed it..... Most of you anyway... Gabe is still on the road, but he asked me to post some pics when I got home.... SOOOOOO........ Here's Gabe stuck on a rock.... Good thing that skid plate was in there.... and then Gabe up on a mountain N.W. of camp......

I have to save the rest, because I'm writing the article again this year..... Georg is just too busy..... So go to the 45 Run thread for more pics!

Actually I wasn't on a rock, and there was no skid plate (not even the factory Toyota one! ).

To make a long story short on the way down a gal driving an FJC got stuck on her skidplate on that rock (nice and pointy). She dug out a nice deep rut on the uphill side before they pulled her off. On the way up I had all four tires in the soft sand/dirt, and they were just spinning (they were in holes/ruts with no traction, that dust was slippery!).

Of course if I did have that skidplate I would have just been high centered on it anyway....that's a nasty obstical with only one real line unless you have sliders (or are willing to bang up someone's steps  ).

Glad you had fun. Jerod send me the pictures and I'll throw them in a folder on the site and send you the links. I won't post them on the site untill your review is done. But at least they will be hosted and you can just link to them in your review.
