OK, now I am certain I am getting too old. I am trying to check the wiring on the light switch for my 66 fj45. Yes I do have Haynes and Toyota manuals. Haynes doesn't show the older switch and (even with a magnifying glass) I can't read the colors going to each pole on the other one. Maybe I am not doing a proper search, but a clear electrical diagram would be appreciated.

Just sold my 73 fj40
Of course I just fixed everything that didn't work just before letting it go. It ran so well I didn't want to see it go. I have gone from eleven cruisers down to 5 in about a year...anyone need a Harley or two?

IDave would be the person to ask here.

I have it somewhere but not too sure right now. I will try to find it in a bit for you.

Thing is, there are a couple of different switches out there, I think (0ne with Fog light capability). There's also a difference between the wiring diagram, the harness diagram, and the way the switch is actually marked on the back.

Do you wire it according to the book? Or the switch? I chose switch.

My switch has each pole marked so, starting at 12 OClock and going clockwise:

BAT--R(ed) wire from 15 amp unswitched fuse on fusebox.

M--R(ed) with B(lack) stripe wire to Meter lights.

H--R(ed) with W(hite) stripe wire to the B terminal on the dimmer switch (Headlights).

P--G(reen) with B(lack) stripe wire to the junction strip on the fender, #3 pole, parking lamps (on bib)

L--G(reen) wire to the rear harness, where it lights only the tail lights as running lights.

(I also have a RG wire on there hooked up for conveinience to the BAT terminal. It goes to the room light, which is switched locally at the top back of the cab. I think if you had an underdash lamp it is wired with another RB wire to the M terminal.)

Anyway, this is what makes sense to me.

However, if you do it this way, your positions will NOT match what the owner's manual says. This way, Straight up is off. First click to the left is Parking (bib) lights on plus meter lights. Second click to the left is Headlights and taillights plus meter.
Click one over to the right from off, and the tail running lights only come on.

The Owner's Manual reverses the Parking and Headlight positions.

But it's wrong! :grinpimp:

I did mine the way he has his and it works perfect. Even with a EZ wiring harness.

Thanks

Sweeeet! I will print this out and do some wiring.

Thanks,
Dukes
