Thanks for the advice folks. I'll clarify a little here, my fiance and I are not able to have children so when I said "family" I meant her and our dogs. We do not own a home yet since we've been doing nothing but moving with work for the last few years. We rent something in what ever town we happen to be working in and go from there to the next job.

I'll reinvest what we've got as per advice from you guys (and our financial planner) and see if we can get a house where we want to retire near the end of the year. Once I've got that and a garage I'll pic up a LC to build. Oh and we don't do any hard core stuff just weekend camping runs on moderate trails.

Thank you all again.

Why not do a little of both? Keeping to a $15K budget will get you a great weekend camping and moderate trail rig, and re-invest the rest.

Retire and $40k to screw around with and no kids? Can I have your life?

There isn't much difference between the 03-07s aside from the 06-07 having some more horses, and all the 100s are "under powered." I'd stick with a 03-05 as they are a lot cheaper than the 06-07s and reinvest the rest of the cash. I looked at upgrading into a 06 a few weeks ago with less than half the mileage (I have 168k on my 03) but then I realized than the 06 wasn't worth the extra money when they are all pretty much the same truck anyway. 168k miles on a 100 is basically just starting to get broken in.
