Hi, I hope you guys can help me. I have a HJ60. Recently i used the 4 wheel drive system without any problems. That is to say, I set the free wheel hubs to lock and hit the H4 button on the dash. When finished off road, i hit the H4 button again and reset the hubs to free. On the fourth occasion of doing this (over as many days), i hit the H4 button to go back into 2 wheel drive and reset the hubs to free. This time the H4 light on the dash stayed on and has remained on since. I can now change from 2 to 4 wheel drive just using the hubs on the front wheels. That in itself is no problem. However, in normal driving at about 50-60 mph, The transmission system sounds like its half way between 2 and 4 wheel drive. The concern is that the transfer box or diff is eating itself. All wiring diagrams i have do not show the H4 switch or system. I have checked all fluid levels and all seems okay. The only other thing that may not be related is that the engine is very reluctant to turn over first thing every day. This has only occured since the H4 thing

I can't help ya. I don't know how buttons work. Have you tried posting this in the 60/62 series forum? We only have levers in this forum. :D

I believe 60's operate off of vacuum servos, there is probably either a dead servo or disconnected tube vacuum tube. Look at the tubes and junk at the top of the firewall and inspect the transfer case, just see if you can tell if anything's awry.

The sound you are hearing is most likely the front d-shaft spinning at speed. My 40 will do that as well.

Other than that bit of non-specific information I got nothing. Try the 60 series board.
