Just bought a master cylinder off a 4 runner at the junkyard for 40 bucks. However on my fj62 it has the sensor on top and this one has a plug for the sensor on the side. Would it be alright to not use the sensor? Will a light come on? I'm kinda antsy on getting the used master cylinder... kinda thinking i should have gone with new....

regards,
-Kevin

Yep a light will probably come on. Maybe you can plug the old wiring into the new sensor assuming they are both for low fluid.
I wouldnt advise driving around without a low fluid sensor especially as its a used MC.
They can let you down real quick.

I would always get a new MC if I can afford it.Ive rebuilt 3-4 and used some from wreckers and they have never lasted long.

4Runner master cylinder is a better option than 80 series master cylinder . ?

Both are bolt on on 60 series . ?

Brake master cylinder from 4-runner truck(HILUX) which produced pre 95/11 can be used with 60 series brake booster.
They are almost same with 80 series master cylinder but I don't know which is better :)

Both the mid 90's 4runner and 80 series MC's are 1" bore.

.

good to know that stuff .. !

I got a T100 MC......................4 runner calipers

is that so wrong?

not installed yet............

Seems to me bolt pattern to the booster would be the only discrminator for the T-100 or 80 series vs the mini-truck master cylinder. This link

is a good write-up of the process on a 60, including the wiring mod for the sensor plug.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I saw some old 4runner master cylinder had 1" cast iron body with big reservoir and later (until 95) MC has 1" aluminum body with same reservoir.

The major functional difference between the 4Runner and the cruiser master is the residual pressure valve in the rear circuit. The 80 series cruiser (if from a 4 wheel disc model 93+ in the US) will have a low RPV and will give you a soft pedal until pumped several times if used in a vehicle with rear drum brakes. The 91-92 80 series US master has a higher rear RPV that works lots better in that circumstance.
