Just an FYI for those who need gearing. In a few weeks we will have 4.88 ratio ring & pinions for the new Toyota 8” clamshell style IFS diff found in the front of 07+ FJ Cruiser, 05+ Tacoma, and 03+ 4runners. ,EMAIL FOR DETAILS as I may not be able to check this post frequently.

Do you know of something for sale in the 4.3 range? I've been looking but haven't been finding.

I need more details then that before I take the bait :D
How much?
Are you going to put together a package for the whole truck(front and back)?
Can you beat AllPro's 4.56 package and price?
Do you need a new front carrier for the FJs with an auto?
 I'll stop their for now

4.88

Yes the price will be lower than anything prior. The rear gears are nothing special really. The frontend is new on these vehicles and no US companies have come out with aftermarket gears until now. The only option prior was very expensive OEM toyota 4.56 gears that were $500 + each just for the front ring & pinion. We have several hundred sets coming so we were able to get the cost down a bunch. We hope to be able to retail them for under $300. This is a tech forum so I dont want to make this a for sale post, but I know many people have been needing gears for a while now. Feel free to email.

new 4.88 for fj

How much? Undetermined yet, but about half the cost of any prior option
Are you going to put together a package for the whole truck(front and back)? Yes, we can do packages, but cost will depend on several variables, so easier to quote per vehicle. (ie fj or taco, at or mt, master or mini kits, locker or not, etc, etc.)
Can you beat AllPro's 4.56 package and price? Yes but these are 4.88
Do you need a new front carrier for the FJs with an auto? yes they are designed to fit 3.90+ carrier. We have the necessary carrier's in stock for those w/ 3.73, we also are developing a spacer as a lower cost alternative to the carrier.

These have already been tested. Setup was EXCELLENT, some of the best gears I have seen. We designed them to setup very near stock R&P specs, for minimal changes in shim thickness. The first sample setup perfect w/ stock shims. There is actually an FJ running around with them right now. Excellent match for the 35" tires!

So I posted an FYI on the fj forum and they banned me for life for spamming:whoops:. Whats the deal? I guess if you are a reg over there you could let them know. I guess they just dont want anyone to know what frontend they have or the options available.

You have to be a supporting vendor of the blue room in order to post things like this on the blue room. PM ekool on the blue room to get more information about that if you're interested.

4.88 gears for 35's sounds good. However with the problems with the FJ rear R&P gears grenading, this begs the questions of where are the gears made, and have they been tested to make sure it's not a similar problem to what others have already experienced with the stock FJ gears.

What about ARB air locker integration for the front end?

4.88's have been available for the Toyota rears for quite a while, the only thing new here is the availability of a front 4.88 r&p. There are lots of 4.88 rear r&p's out there in use.

gears

The rear gears have been available, but dont do much good w/o front gears to match. It is the front gear that are new. and yes you can use an arb with them. They have been tested and are top notch quality.

You're right about that - need matching front and rear gears. When I get ready to do my front and rear end to get rid of the problem with the hand grenade under my rear end I'll check in with you on those 4.88's. I like low gears and want to do the whole package right.

Thanks.
