4.3 chevy vortec info

Hi everyone, was wondering if anybody has done a 4.3 vortec swap in a yota? I've got an 84 pickup and a 98-00 4.3L. Know of any shops who have done it? Or how easy, what things are needed? Any help would be great, thanks!!

I had an '84 SR5 X-Cab 4x4 with a '98 4.3 Vortec/4L60E/stock t-case. Toyota builds great engines. There is no doubt about that, and IMHO the 22R/RE is one of the best they have ever produced to date. However, the fuel injection of the 4.3 is a very nice upgrade if you don't have an '85+ 4wd (they went FI in '84 in the 2wd). Mine ran like a raped ape with the 4.3 in it. I had 35's on it and could smoke them on dry pavement, even with the spool I had in the rear. It was a very quick truck and I wouldn't hesitate to do that swap. I surprised a lot of people in that truck. As others have said, AA makes the adapters to run your stock tranny/t-case if you wish. Engine mounts and wiring are also available. Basically you will need the engine and adapters for whatever tranny you are going to run, wiring, engine mounts, exhaust mods, modded radiator or aftermarket and a few other things. Keep an eye on your engine mounts if you use the AA's. I had one rip right out of my passenger side frame rail! You might think about reinforcing the frame rails in that area. The 4.3 engines are rated at around 215 HP from the factory, which is obviously waaaaay more than the 22R.
