Time to thin the herd a bit and the "pink panty" looks to be the one to go.
I've had the truck a couple years and it's been a reliable around town grocery getter. Took one trip to the local OHV park and highway construction site but that's about it for offroading. Selling because I got a 2015 Tacoma that I am outfitting as my main travel truck. No need for two off road vehicles in the family - at least right now. PO was the second owner who decided to sell it after the head gasket went. He had it fixed but his wife didn't want it any more so they upgraded to a GX of some sort.
Here's the skinny:
1997 Lexus LX450
Triple locked and the lockers work fine
Repainted by PO using a black that has some purple metal flake. They did a really nice job on the paint. He says its a factory Lexus color from another model but couldn't remember which one. Paint is in great shape.
I got the truck with 175,000 miles. Currently sits at 185,000. When I got it I did my usual PM schedule which includes a new Toyota radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, new belts and hoses, Landtank modified fan clutch, rear heat delete, PHH bypass with Gates Greenstripe hose, and new front pads. I also installed two new Denso O2 sensors after throwing a code. Also replaced the heater valve.
Later, I installed OME stock height springs from Cruiser Outfitters with OEM Tokiko (sp?) shocks. I then added FJ Cruiser steel wheels with Cooper ST Maxx 255/85-17 tires.
Interior is a 6.5 out of ten. Driver's seat has typical wear including a few tears. Not anything like I have seen in other rigs however. Passenger seat has a small tear/hole in the seat. I've included a few picks of the interior but let me know if you want more. I do have the third row seats and they go with the truck.
Everything inside the truck works. PO replaced the stock stereo with a Kenwood of some type. Pretty nice system. Stock door speakers could use replacing but you can listen to the radio as it is. I do have the stock radio and it will go with the truck.
The Good:
Rust free truck that is in solid shape
As far as I know, all interior electronics work. Windows are a little slow but they go up and down
No engine lights
Lockers function as they should
Windshield is in perfect shape
New hood gas struts come with truck
Spare hood with louvers currently installed but I have original hood as well
Comes with original wheels with good stock-style tires
Have a new FJ Cruiser steel wheel so you can have 5 offroad wheels, no tire installed currently
The bad:
Front bumper is a little tweaked from nosing into a hole that was deeper than I thought. Windshield or sunroof is leaking. Only noticed it after getting some serious rain over the last few weeks.
In very hot weather the truck will ping some but usually only when going up hill under load. Running premium gas seems to help and it does fine except in very high temps. I actually bought a used upper and lower intake manifold assembly and I planned to clean it out and replace the current one to see if that helped. Haven't gotten around to it but I'll throw that in with the truck. No clue what is causing the issue but since it usually only happens in very high temps, I just haven't messed with it. I typically do the front axle when I get a new 80 but haven't gotten around to it. I THINK I have a kit from Cruiser Outfitters and that will go with the truck. I also throw in the Redline grease I bought for the birfields.
Truck is located in Fort Worth. Happy to show the truck and take folks for a ride.
$7,500 OBO
Truck when I brought it home:
New Radiator:
PHH Bypass:
Landtak Modified Fan Clutch:
After installation of springs, shocks, FJ Cruiser steelies and ST Maxx tires:
Truck with spare white hood with louvers. I bought paint that was a decent color match a year ago and will throw in with truck. The shop put it in aerosol cans so no idea how good it is. Been in my kitchen so not out in heat or cold. I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL HOOD IN THE GARAGE AND IT GOES WITH THE TRUCK. WILL EVEN REINSTALL PRIOR TO PICK-UP IF BUYER WANTS.
