Hi. By monitoring the importer sites, I don't see any third row seating in JDM import 61s and 80s into Can. Are they rare in Japan? As for Prados, I would be interested in finding out if they are more common. I noticed on page 65 of the LC history book that the 78 in there is equipped with the 3rd row seating. I am looking for the needle in the haystack?

TIA

Michel,

So far I haven't seen a 78 that didn't have a 3rd row. Not that I go looking into all the 78s but the ones I have seen do all have a 3rd row.

The 3rd row in my 78 Prado is hard to get 2 people into and offers very little room.

78's didn't even exist until 1999. Perhaps you meant to say 75-series?

Moose,

There are two body configurations for the LC designation 78. The HZJ 78 Troopie and the LJ/KZJ78 Prados.

IMO the Prados should have been given the 77 designation as they very closely resemble the HZJ 77s . The only body difference being the front ends.

nah, the prado should have been called the LJ80.5 sicne they look like a baby 80 series...

Huh? Post padding I hope? Yep, your post went up one. Thanks for your retort, Wayne.

Now to clarify my statement:

The LJ/KZJ 78 Prados look/are exactly like the 77 series body wise until you look at the front end. The only same "looking" thing to a 80 series on a 78 Prado is the front axle(minus the truss) and suspension/steering.

Now a 90 series Prado. Maybe a baby 80 if you have bad vision. I highly doubt they have a 3rd row seating arrangement.

Only the "wagon/petrol" 80's came with three rows of seating, at least in Japan, AFAIK.

hummm, post padding... if this is what you think i am doing that is fine by me.

we were talking about personal preference of what the LJ78 looks like. what you said is true BUT in my eyes the LJ78 from the front looks like a smaller 80 series. same with 8 passenger seating simular to the NA 80 series.

ooops, my count went up again...

I like 3rd row seats.....................

sorry just padding my post count :D
