Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

First of all, this site is a great resource and I have used it countless times working on my Fj80 in the past and fixing my FJ62.
Hopefully I dont upset too many people and get directed to the search option as I have tried to browse through it.

Im thinking of converting my FJ62 Auto to H55F 5 speed. The transmission is out of an BJ70 and will come with a transfer case already mated to it.
My questions are:
Would the input shaft fit a 3FE engine?
Are there any modifications required for the shaft (cutting etc) to get it to fit?
How would you approach the speedo cable to the transmission?
Would you use different driveshafts?

Thank you in advance for the help.

This is as it sits at the moment, gathering both dust and boxes.

Diesel five speeds have more splines, also it’s longer I think.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the h55f that's mated behind a 2h and 3f the same input shaft and the 3b totally different?

Correct.

33030-60450 which is the current available H55F in the US market will work on all F engine iterations as well as 2H and 12H-T iterations.

This might sound dumb, but what’s the difference between a h55f and h55? I’m confused…. I thought diesel 5speeds where h55 and gasoline were F55 - F?

F at the end usually indicates it's a 4 wheel drive box. So for instance you have the r150 and the r150f. R150 is for 2wd vehicles and r150f is for 4 wheel drive. A r150 cannot use a transfer case but a r150f can.

I think that's how it works from my knowledge

Will not work. You need a new input shaft.

That was my fear, it look like the H55F shaft is a 21 spline shaft.

You will be better off sourcing a correct H55F instead of tearing down this one to replace the input shaft. To replace the input shaft will essentially require a complete tear down and rebuild of your current transmission. Went through this experience once and will never repeat it. If funds are available a new transmission is the way to go.

I didn’t know cruisers came with 2wd.

Cruisers didn't but other vehicles did and use the same transmissions. For example the tacoma 4wd and 2wd versions

Where did you get the fender flares? Sorry offtopic
Check Gozzard Yachts. look under composites in the drop down. apparently hes a LC fan.
