Alright, before I get flamed, I did do a search both here and at birfield.com, but still had trouble finding an answer.
I'm dealing with an intermittent rough idle when the engine is hot. Sometimes, when I come to a stop and put the car in park, the idle settles down to right where it should be. But other times, it idles high, about 1000, and sounds like it's missing a bit. I've gone through all the vacuum lines with carb cleaner, and didn't find anything. From what I've read, it sounds like the EGR. But thought I'd ask here before ordering expensive parts. Anyone deal with this?
It's a stock '89 3fe with 140k miles.

oh - anyone have any tips on getting the pcv out? My cheesy manual says "pull out." I guess I'm not as strong as I thought I was.;p

I do recall others having rough idle only when the engine was hot and as I think someone solved their problem by installing a new Ignition Coil. One way to test to see if the coil ius the problem is to is to spray it down when the problem is occuring. If, after spraying it down the idle returns to normal you have found the problem.

My own idling/stumbling problems were solved with a new TPS (throtle position sensor).

Good luck.

Have not checked for codes yet. Good idea. I'll see what I can rig up today for a jumper.
