Hello,

Power is 90 HP at 3500 rpm and torque is 160 lb ft at 2000 rpm.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: My mistake. I read 3B. I understand the rotary pump gave the 3Bii a few extra horses, as well as a little more torque. Looking again I found the same numbers posted below.

My apologies.

I think those figures are for a 3b ... 3b ll is supposed to be abit more

I've seen the 3BII figures before, but for the life of me I cannot find where. I'll let you know if I do. I think they were only about 5hp more on paper. Could be more in reality though.

This is not the site I was thinking of, but it does have some good info. BJ Series Land Cruisers: Engines

It's saying there were three versions of the 3B, and the power was as follows:

  • horsepower: 90, 93 or 98 at 3500 rpm
  • torque: 159, 163, or 167 ft-lbs at 2200 rpm

G'Day Fella's,

An interesting read, and I have had a read of the link.
Being the owner since new of a BJ73 (in Australia), with a 3B engine made in 11-1989, do you know what my engine out put would be?
Apologies for the Dumb Question.

Yes , you have a 3bll......Often refered too in Aus as a "Late 3B"
Now you need too throw it away and chuck in a 15bf .... The late 3bll is the easyest swap for the Dyna engine and is worth good money too sell if its mint.... I just did it in my bj75 and its crazy lol

Thanks for that info Mohawk, much appreciated.

Further to your enquiry regard 3BII power out-put.
I just had a Quick look in the owners manual for my BJ73 but I wasn't able to find any specific's details on HP/Kw.

Also, I have a 1985 era Toyota poster for the BJ73 and RJ70 but it only states 110Kw for the FJ73RV-MRQ (4.2 litre Petrol engine).

Leave it with me, and I'll have a Slow read of the owners manual etc, and see what I can find.......

I'd like to have a read.

Edit Homer. I think I found it; Bj75 15bf conversion

yup , ive posted all over the place.....the FB link at the end has the whole process documented .... its actually very strait forward ...i used the 3bll engine mounts , flywheel , clutch ,starter, bell housing, vaccume lines, wireing, SUMP ,radiator , and ,senders.....The hardest bit was finding a tidy rout for the air intake pipe and getting a bloody strait answer from an injector pump person (if you end up with an electronic one )...
Bj75 15bf conversion
The dyna motors are increadably strong and under no stress NA , and you gotta love 16valves.... Ive got 10,000 trouble free km on mine so far and so good.

Ignore the speedo in the vids.....On the gps its now cruising at 2700 @105km in 4th and 2400@105km in 5th..
Thats with 4.1 diff and 33inch rubber....... It was just eating gears like lollys with 31s on it.

Thanks again and I applied to join the 15bf-conversion group on Face Book.
BTW, nice job on the conversion there Mohawk!
