Hi
Im based in Hamilton New Zealand and i recently bought a new landcruiser to do up. Ive been putting around in a short wheelbase PZJ 70 for the last 14 years and never plan too ever sell it.
The 75 is pretty worn out but coming together nicely useing good second hand toyota parts . Im semi skilled in most aspects and learning too weld aluminium and stainless , so making new exhausts and stuff is all part of the fun......Heres a link too a build thread so far , and ill post future pics here as i go
Landcruiser bj75

Im in the processe of trying too locate a good 15b engine at a decent price , so if anyone in NZ can help I would love you too bits .... Ive searched and researched allover the net for the last 6 months and the only issue seems too be weather or not i can squeeze in the PS pump , or whats involved in rotating it ??
Also , could someone help with contacting Snail Trail , his inbox appears too be full.

Nice tray you have. Was the BJ75 sold new in NZ

Yea. NZ new.....thanks , i did the sides in qwilla but underneith the frames abit sad.... the centre section at the rear will get a 500 x700 draw eventually........it was an x diesel service truck with 350,000 extremely hard km ....just finished welding all the cracks in the drivers door and waiting on flanges too finish my exhaust.... will 2 1/2 inch be ok for the 15bf...its got a 3bll at the moment and the new exhaust is bigger.

Big day today. Bought a 205,000km 15bf.....should be here in a weeks time.
making side steps and a small draw too go under the tray . The panel that holds the number plate on will be the front of it. Also started cleaning up the the winch

What is a 15BF? Do you mean 15BT? If it has "F" in it, it would be a 15B-FTE. But nice choice either way.

From what i understand b= inline 4 f=16 valve .........Its from a 96 dyna .
No point having anything too grunty in a 75 , i just wana get places with the boat on and not have too change gear too much lol ... Ill leave the 4.11 diffs and 32 inch tyres for now , that gives me 100kmph @ 2500..........Will that hurt the new motor long term or should i loo at pulling the rpm back ?

oooh , heres the boats

It might be a 15B FT. They use the same method of engine naming as Landcruisers of similar years. Is it a turbo engine?

There has been no mention of turbo and ive been sent photos, but having said that , i havent seen any that clearly show it isnt . It would be one hell of a bonus if it was , but im not getting my opes up .

There is a few videos on youtube on 15B engines of different types starting and running. There is also mention of a 15BF without a turbo .I haven't heard of them before. Is it a Japanese import?
These should be really good for towing.

Can anyone tell me for sure if the 3bll flywheel will bolt up too the 15b ? ... I have a new clutch in the 3bll and no clutch for the 15b .
If i can swap the over then i know it all fits and i should have no dramas at that end of things.

They have different part numbers but it still may bolt up. The 15B clutch is bigger because I remember some of the others who did this swap saying they had to grind off some of the bellhousing webbing to get the 3b bellhousing to fit.

70 series bell housing is supposed too fit ... 3bll is supposed too have same sump bolt pattern and as it also has an 8 bolt fly wheel i might get lucky ... Fingers crossed...

Looks similar to the 14BT I put into my BJ75. The return fitting (item 1 below) on the PS pump hit the frame on my BJ75 and wouldn't let the USDS motor mount seat completely. It was sooo close to fitting, I thought about getting custom fitting made that was about .25 inch (5 to 10 mm) shorter, but ended up rotating the whole pump 180 deg. and modifying the return line.

I also had to move the reservoir (item 2) as it fouled on my brake booster, but mine's LHD and yours is RHD, so you may be okay leaving the reservoir where it is.

The other interference was the wing (item 3) on the oil pan. I wasn't able to get my starter in with that wing. I modified the driver's side, cut the wing off to clear the diff, but then once I got the engine in, I could not for the life of me get the starter in between the frame and the oil pan. I almost cut an access in the inner fender, but in the end swapped my 3BII sump onto the engine.

Good luck. You have AC in the 75?

Another thing I had to do was use a different radiator return line, the section of hard line (the one right next to the PS pump) hit the frame as well.

And, when I flipped my PS pump 180, the fan was very close to hitting the pump, it may have hit actually...so I swapped my 3BII fan clutch, which moves the fan out another half inch or so, hope this helps.

Thanks dan I will try go the special fitting route... ive got mates that should be able too help out there. Air con on the little cruiser as standard converted to compressor ,r but not the 75.....i will fit an ac pump later and turn it into a compresser on tge 15b...its your thread that made me decide too just fit the 3bll sump and not mess around.
how much extra crap is on your injector pump ?
