Well, I finaly bought a Goodyear Gatorback V-Belt # 22494 ..... 1245mm / 49''. It fit perfectly.
I'm going through this process soon and planning stuff out. So on my 3B with manual steering, I can just keep the alternator bracket and get this belt to make it work then? If I can get the bracket that was on a 3B that had power steering, I should grab it?

Regarding the upper rad hose connection, I know I need to get the thermosat housing that faces the driver's side (being LHD). Rather than getting my current rad inlet changed or getting another rad altogether, has anyone rigged up a connection to go to the right hand side (passenger) inlet at the rad?

With a bit of creative grinding you can get an early alternator to fit into the late model 60 power steering.

If I recall correctly I flipped the alt bracket and extended the adjustment slot.
Also knocked off some of the corner on the alt so it had enough clearance.

Bit of a pain in the ass as I figured it would only take me an hour to do the swap and with all the monkeying around it took me over two.

Another thing to be aware of is the vacuum lines changed in how they connect to the alt. Not familiar with how the 40's were rigged up so be prepared for some fiddlin and fabbin in that area as well.

I can snap a pic if you anyone wants to see.

I'm looking for a good way to route the top hose to the right side radiator inlet as well (bj44/2b.) I have the later thermostat housing and would love to see a single molded hose that fit the bill but a clean combo of 2 hoses would be fine too.

Pete
