what bellhousing will i need for a 3B engine going into my 1979 fj40. are they hard to locate. i have heard that my 1979 4 speed (H41 or H42 i guess) will not bolt up. is this correct? thanks, Larry

Your H42 has the wrong input shaft to bolt up to a 3B. You could either swap the input shaft and run your tranny behind a b series bellhousing or get a whole diesel H42 tranny with the bellhousing. I'd offer you one but all I have came with a split case. You really need one from a 1978, 1979 or 1980 BJ40

ok. thanks for info. if you come across something i need let me know. diesel stuff is rare in texas. i think you sold colby a 3B. i bought colby's old 3B. got to go pick it up next week. i bought a starter, alternator ans edic (all 12v) last week from cody in calgary. colby said i need a diaphram for the pump and glow plug relay. i am watching for those. i am going to rebuild the engine. keep me in mind. Larry

Larry, if you want a 3B bellhousing for a '78 - '80 BJ40 I have an extra one here. It's just a bare bellhousing nothing more. You'd still need the mount which is available from Spector as well as a crossmember that you'd need to either fabricate or locate.

pm me for info. I will be stateside by car in June.
