That is hilarious that the Xterra guy took a picture. He had parked about six inches over the line and I was just saying hello by parking next to him. At least he has a good sense of humor. Running cut/no fenders has led to elecrical issues. I'm glad to see others are running boggers. I took them to the only shop in Colorado that shaves tires round and it helped alot on the road. Now I just need to fix the electrical gremlins and then get back to work on other things like a rear locker.

What electrical issues are you having? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Sealing up the openings into the engine bay would probably address the electrical issues. If you are in a wet climate and you are going fenderless, then the openings in the engine bay should be sealed up. There are significant electrical components sticking out of those openings, especially on the DS. I haven't sealed those up yet, and hence the electrical problems. If you are in the desert southwest, then it is not such a problem. I don't live in the desert southwest.

Actually, it was a wiring harness inside, not outside, that burned up. It looks like moister came up the open end of the B-pillar were I cut out my rocker panels. The inside harnesses are not as water resistant as the ones outside. Once I found the problem are it was an easy fix.

So it's ok to go fenderless?

Openings in the engine bay expose wiring harnesses on the DS. These didn't cause my electrical problem, but they could cause one in the future. It still didn't stop me from removing my inner fenders. Once you take off the outer fenders, you are going to want to cut off the inner fenders.

Below are pics of what my fenders look like now. You can see the openings and the wiring harnesses. I'm planning to run tube from my front stinger/plate boxed in frame area to my sliders. The design will be similar to what Justin and the guys at Redline did on their FJ55 War Pig. My tube front fender thread talks about it. I met with Justin today at the Redline shop, and will be going that route in Feb. Here's where I'm at now:

The only other thing with removing the fenders is that the tires will throw any moister all over your windshield. Melting snow mixed with de-icer, salt and mud made my windshield nasty for a few days. You throw in freezing temps, and the tires throwing mositure can be a pain. But besides that, I say go for it. But you really can cut them without removing them and still clear 42's up front. Aren't you running 40's Wrench? I think a good high clearanced front fender looks better than no fenders though.

But take them off and see what you think dude! The guy running 40's from Alabama who bobbed and dovetailed is running no fenders up front. And he removed his side marker lights. I can't remember his user name for some reason...

Yeah I'm running 40's. And trying to give them a little more clearance. So that's why I'm researching going fenderless. I was planning on only going fenderless on the trail. I would put them back on for the street. But I have no idea what that would involve. Tube fenders would be ideal. Not sure what I want to do.

The guy your thinking of from Alabama is Landspeeder. He doesn't wheel hard though.

Just roamed around on some of the off the beaten path areas on USAF Academy after 4" of fresh snow (it is coming down!) and I love how these tires perform in snow. I want to try out some real deep stuff though! Teller County should have some by this weekend.

Dafun - Did you bring your tractor tires up with you from your previous duty station?

Id be really interested in haring latest from you on the tractor tires

Mery Christmas and Happy New Years

Ceers - Rusty

No Rusty, I sold them in Guam and bought the closest street legal tire in these 38.5x11-16 boggers. The tractor tires were wonderful off road, but it would have been a pain trying to bring them to the trail and then put them on.
