Well my 92 350 tbi is knocking real good now and I need to buy an engine. I was looking in to a stock 92 short block with vortec heads and a "special tuned chip" for the cam I select. That got me thinking , should I just buy a newer vortec long block and use all the tbi stuff I have already wired inand get the vortec heads already on the motor? This would be a cheaper way I think. Will the vortec block work with the tbi? What year engine should I look for. Thanks for all the help.

You need a special intake with the Vortec bolt pattern. I suspect you'd have to tune your TBI to the better flow characteristics of the Vortec heads, but it's been done many times.

I haven't looked specifically for your issue, but thirdgen.org is a F body site with lots of TBI tech.
