Believe me when I tell you I've researched this up and down and can't find a definitive answer.....perhaps there isn't one. Too many variables from truck to truck, but....'

Are any of you running 35x12.5's on a standard OME 2.5 inch lift? I would love to take a look. There are folks on both sides of the fence.

I have a 78 '40 and the rear wells are cut by the PO. This is the only reasonable tub I could get my hands on several years ago when I took my rusty rear end off. The cut rears makes me think I can "get away " with it.

Currently, I have lightly used 31x10.5's BFG MT (which BTW will be for sale in due time).....and i NEED to go bigger. IS 35 too big? I guess 33x12.5 could do the trick but I always hear tires are like TV's......shoulda gone bigger.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I ran 35x12.5 BFG MTs under a 4" lift with a little rubbing on the inner wheel wells in the rear. I don't think there is enough room to run 35's under a 2.5" lift without sacrificing a lot of articulation. But, this is just MHO.

I think it depends how big your rear has been cut. The one heavy would run 35 in the front but not without cutting rear. I have a set of 35's you could try on. If you like the way they fit maybe you can talk me out of them.

I guess if they are rubbing on the inner, then cut wells really won't make a difference. Do you think decreasing the backspacing in conjunction with the cut fenders will help? Guess i'll need some fender flares.

Oooooo....that may be the smart move...I would be in a heap of debt to you if we could make that happen. It would answer a lot of questions including if I could get in the garage, how it would look...etc.

Why not try the shoes on before you buy them...right?

What brand are you running?

35x12.5x15 bfg km2s. They are on a set of Mickey Thompson Slots that are 15x10. Not positive what back spacing is but they came off my 62 and where perfect

Here is mine on 35's love them

Thanks that makes a question all these years answered
I'm certainly no expert, but I have gone through just about every stage of lift and this just looks like my 4" lift on 35s did.
I just found another pic of what I think is your truck and it confirms my guess. Those rear springs have lots of arch and the shackles are not that long.

The top of the tire is just about even with the top of the arched part of the frame, which is my at a glance check. If it were a 35 on less than a 35, the frame would be lower.

Outside is painted with DURABAK tinted with orange ; Its been awesome Ive had it one there since 2010 and its the best thing for playing on trails it never gets scratched ; downside Ive got to clean it with a brush as any rag or sponge gets caught on it .

So this tells me there is no way 35's are going under a 2.5" lift.

Looks like OME 2.5" on 33 12.5 15's......now which tires?
