Sorry han, I actually answered your MPG question after I edited my reply. ;)

Most 305's will rub a bit at full lock, but should be ok otherwise. You can adjust your turn stops to compensate and keep the tires off of the UCAs.

Thanks, Fuzz. Did you track your MPG via Scangauge or fill up method? I'm assuming you also compensated the odo for the larger tire. It doesn't seem like a big hit at all (~7%) on the MPG. Better than what I was expecting to hear.

I hope the BFG's work. I have sworn off spacers, so if it comes to that, I'll get aftermarket wheels with more offset.

Thanks again for your input.

Sure thing. I was using fuelly.com and tracking mileage by my odometer, but I found that using an app for my droid was much easier as I could use the tripmeter, add 5% (tripmeter x 1.05) to the overall mileage to compensate for the tire size, and then clear it out for the next tank.

It's certainly not scientific, but it works for my purposes. I'm not worried about the actual mileage per se, I just keep an eye on the numbers for consistency. If something is off with the mpg, I know something is up with the rig.

I run 275/75/16 DT and I saw no loss of MPG going to them from OEM size Mich LX somethings.

Still love mine only regret was not E rated vs just C

I have the 285 75 16 DT in an E rating and they are too stiff. Wish I could have got the DT in a C rating. That is my only complaint, and it is a minor one at that, the DT rock.

I'll swap ya... I tow 6k lbs of race car and gear with my LC 6 to 8 times a year. The Cs are a tad too soft for that.

Would "D" be just right? (Maybe not available?)

Generally, what rating (c, d, e) are mudders favoring (add your qualifiers eg extra weight, pressure-down for crawling, road ride characteristics)?

Are these tire ratings too variable, depending on brand, such that it is difficult to generalize?

I've never had any issues w/ E rated tires. I like the extra plies for trail durability, personally. Ran D rated Terra Grapplers on my Yukon - I don't notice any difference in overall ride comfort between D and E.

weird, i thought the exact opposite - which is why i run mine at 45psi to compensate for the squish (which was very noticeable on curvy roads). i also gained back the 1-2mpg that i lost immediately after putting them on 23k miles ago because Goodyear set them at 25psi. i also like the e-rated for a tad more strength offroad and because the cruiser is a heavy pig (that's only gonna get heavier with more mods :D)

How much lift is required to allow the 305/70 to fit? I currently have the BFG AT's in 285/75 at stock height... no rubbing. I'd love to go with the 305's on the next round.

I have an LX 470 with BFG's 305/70/16 with no mods. Love them!

Might have something to do with the frost heaves out here on the east coast!
