Hey All

I set my budget at $2500 for a new lift. Already have tires and yes I have a steel bumper front and rear. Looking for about 2.5 inches of lift. I know about slee ome setups and icon. What you some of you experts build that isn't a pain in the @ss to get a part if it breaks?

Are you all baselined and everything?

What are you using the truck for?

I'm a fan of my Tough Dog set up. Rides great on the road (other than E rated tires) and great off-road. With the big front bumper I decided to go with the larger 53MM front shocks. I also did the extended F+R sway bar links and diff drop. And SPC UCAs (with the serviceable ball joint). I think all of that ran me about $2K ish? Put the rest into replacing worn bushings if you haven't already.

The best $$$ I have spent on my 100 is Icon reservoir front shocks (not the cdc version). I got the icon 2" shocks for teh rear and are way too soft for anything but stock bumpers and no weight in back

It’s going to depend on how you use your vehicle, and what your priorities are.

Prices will vary depending on a number of factors, such as whether UCA/sway bar extensions/diff drop are included or separate, and rebuildable vs disposable shocks.

I have the OME kit on my son’s LC.

I just recently went through my decision tree and installed the Tough Dog kit (plus UCAs, sway bar extensions, and a diff drop) on my LX. The Tough Dog kit does seem to be an upgrade over the OME kit, specifically on the adjustable rear shocks.

Kits that I looked at, and I’m sure I missed some on this list.

Just Differentials kit: Super Deluxe Suspension Package

One of Slee’s kits: Slee - Toyota 100 Series Land Cruiser Suspension

Ironman kit: https://ironman4x4america.com/toyot...o-2-suspension-kit-performance-load-0-440lbs/

Trail Tailor/Tough Dog kit: Tough Dog 3"/75mm TourFlex suspension kit

Slinky kit: SK70011SLT Toyota100 Series on Icon Suspension Aus Spec Kit Stage 1 SLINKY LONG TRAVEL Heavy Duty 70mm lift

Damn, $3k for a suspension? I wouldn't be spending it on a 100 series but more a GX, 4R, 200 series or Tundra. You're bound to the limits (which are a lot) of torsion bar suspension on the 100. You're bound to like 5-7 inches of wheel travel.

I would get:
Ironman torsion bars $400
Radflo 2.5s or Icon 2.5s with Resi $2k
Total Chaos UCA $800
Differential drop $300
Ironman coils $200
Timbren bumpstops front and rear $500

$4k total for a sweet suspension.

You won't be breaking your suspension. If you broke it wheeling, you're looking at more than just suspension parts that you've broken. Most likely frame and body damage. Also, since the 100 series has torsion bars, you're really limited and Tundras and Tacomas will be smoking you on fast bumpy stuff with their coilovers suspension.

OP- I’ve been very pleased with the set up below. Should be within your budget.

OME 860 (or 863 if running drawers and full load)
OME TBs
Ironman Pro Foams
Slee drop
SPC UCAs

i been using ome 2.5" kit from slee. and added heavy springs in the back. upgraded the upper arms to total chaos. with weight loaded in the back smooth sailing for 3-4 years. looking to change out the shocks this year

We racing these things now? :D

Crazy that the first six responses to this post were all wildly different. From minimalist spend answers to 3k won’t be enough...crazy. I’m sure everyone here has researched the s*** out of suspension but here’s some thoughts:

-it doesn’t seem like a icon lift will
Leave you with enough budget to be comprehensive
-You’ve got bumpers so you’ll need springs/torsion bars for a constant and heavier load.
-if you go high you’ll have to get a diff drop (add 250-300$)
- you’ve already got tires so most assume you wouldn’t put a 3+ inch lift on something smaller than 33’s

You could do the following
- Iron man, tough dog, Dobinsons, Slee/ome constant load baseline - $900-$2000 Based on what you pick (shock feature seems to be determinant - gas, foam, reservoir, etc)
- metaltech upper and lower rear rear links
- aftermarket front upper control arms (or new bushings)
- new lower control arms bushings(if necessary)

This maximizes 3k in equipment and could leave you enough for install money/emergency money depending on the baseline kit you select.

For the best performance for the $ I would mix it and not due to a traditional off the shelf "Kit". The size and weight of the 100 is a lot for a 2" shock front or rear. ICON makes a very good front IFP (Internal floating piston) shock in 2.5", good price and performance, Solid control and proper piston size needed. For the rear, it's too tight of a space for a proper IFP with a decent sized primary shaft so the only way to do a rear as IFP is to go with a small shaft in a 2" (not the best) or move the piston out of the shock body and put it remotely. The rear ICON 2.5" shocks are just this. The larger rear shock piston (not the remote one) will pay dividends in daily performance and sway. The biggest notice will be the reduction in body roll due to the weight of the truck. Off-road, the larger rear 2.5"s will also payback for the piston size and overall comfort.

Lastly, the best time to put Upper Control Arms on is when you install the kit, saves doing another alinement again a yr later when one finally gets them. I put UCA's as a need mainly due to keeping our alinement in check for safty. SPC makes some good ones for the $ but keeping on par with the level of performance in this kit, Total Chaos is the OG's. Everyone else that makes a UCA that looks like TC is just that. Matt and Nicole at TC have dedicated their entire business to proper suspension and are the pioneers that developed the off-road performance UCA. Me personly I run TC's on my trucks. Mark

For me with a budget of $2,938.14
