Ah, OK. I misunderstood the video. I still think they should all have side curtain airbags, however. Even my '03 4Runner had side curtain airbags.

My 03 4Runner SR5 did not. I agree, it would be nice to have them. Then again, with the Takata airbag recall due to exploding shrapnel, which is affecting 90M+ vehicles across most brands (my 2012 4Runner is recalled, but they don't have a remedy, or a timeline when a remedy will be available-Toyota says to just not use the front passenger seat, which pisses me the fxxx off.), I can't say I love airbags either.

They said that about my Sequoia as well. 7 months later they finally had the "remedy"

7 months is just not acceptable. According to the recall and my dealer, I was eligible for a rental, and they offered me a Ford Focus. I asked if I could get something that seats 6 (my 4R seats 7), and they ran it up the chain to Toyota Corporate.

Toyota corporate call me and said that even though my 4R is recalled, and the recall says not to use the front passenger seat, that it is indeed safe and I can continue to use the passenger seat, so Toyota would not cover a rental.

I asked them to provide me a written statement that contrary to the recall reported to the NHTSA, that my car was indeed safe. The Toyota corporate person told me that they couldn't provide anything in writing but Toyota would have no reason to give me information that could hurt my family. (other than not wanting to pay $35 a day for a rental). So when we use or 4R (wife's car) she feels like an Uber driver with all of us in the back.

It was optional in '03. I had a V8 Limited and specified that I wanted it with XREAS and side-curtain airbags.

Those 4.7 T4Rs are nice rides. Should have kept mine, but it made a nice down payment on my LC.

My frame rusted out. Toyota paid for most of the replacement -- I paid for about $2k. Then the steel surround to the moonroof rusted and that was the end of it for me. No way I was going to spend a ton of money to fix the sunroof on a vehicle worth about $6k. The suspension was overly soft and it the calipers froze like there was no tomorrow. In 13 years I replaced all the calipers at least 3 times.

It was a good truck overall, but I much prefer my Land Cruiser. The only thing I don't like about my LC is the size -- it is wide when squeezing into a narrow parking space.

I test drove the 5th gen 4Runner, but I just hated that V6.

My 4R was a Portland truck, had zero rust. I could see how rust would be an issue in MA. Portland doesn't use salt. I replaced both of my front calipers with 5th Gen 4R calipers after my driver side froze, and didn't have any more issues. I was getting close to 180k miles, and figured between the timing belt, needing new tires, etc., it was better to sell now rather than after I spent a bunch on needed maintenance. Plus I found a LC with all maintenance records selling for KBB trade in. Just seemed like the right time to upgrade. Loved the 4R though. My LC is much better, and I actually like the size, but parking large cars is not an issue in KCMO. And suprisingly my MPG are very similar in the LC compared to the V8 4R (15.9 on my last tank using hand calculations). I previously had a Tundra, and it was hard to park, even got stuck in a parking garage once after people parked to close to me on either side. The LC seems to be the perfect Goldilocks size for me.

And FWIW, the 5th Gen 4R V6 has grown on me. It actually does really well, just have to get used to the power band being in the higher RPM range.

What I like about the V8 4Runner and the Land Cruiser is that it will scoot with modest revs. You get the power right away without any noise or drama. I can accelerate quickly without the wife getting upset.

The V6 is rather coarse at higher RPMs and it needs a couple more gears. The V6 is probably just as fast 0-60 as my old '03 V8, it just isn't as pleasing to the ears.

I was getting better highway fuel economy in my Land Cruiser than in my 4Runner, but the K02s I had installed seem like they are taking 1-2 mpg off my highway fuel economy. In the city, I do get noticeably less fuel economy in my Land Cruiser -- about 2 mpg less.

I park in Cambridge, MA, and the parking garage at work is a bit tight.

I've thought that if Toyota stuffed the 1VD into the 4R, upped the tow rating, and kept it around $50k that'd get some attention. Especially the Tundra crowd. :)

Smaller size, better mileage, plenty of scoot, already established...

Not sure why Toyota chooses to equip the Lexus with the bigger engine and higher tow rating than the Toyota.

It will be the Prado which had already been leaked, see hamad1two3's instagram for pics.

Here are the exciting changes for the 2018 200.

Just remember that in other parts of the world, they call models "Land Cruisers" that are NOT 200's.
So if the announcement came regarding a new "Land Cruiser" as it's referred to in Australia and some other places...it may have nothing to do with a "300 Series."

Agree that it is probably the Prado which will be revealed. The pictures I've seen suggest it is just a mild refresh of the Prado anyways.

Price drop is likely the rear entertainment that will be optional in 2018.
Not a huge drop though as they are also adding a power lift gate.

I wonder since the 2018 will have the rear monitors as an option if the seats will have a plastic plate to cover the opening if you don't choose them. I would like to remove mine and have some type of cover to put over them. If it is a cover hopefully it should be a part we could order....

I went from a 2009 LX to a 2015 Range Rover Supercharged. I immediately regretted it. My wife looked at it and said, "Your car is so little. its cute." That was the problem. I didn't even feel like I had a truck. I felt like I had a race car station wagon. Yes, the supercharged 5.0L V8 made 508 HP, and it was fast as could be, but the unibody construction and all of that took any feel of having a "truck" out of it. Not to mention, there were a variety of problems with the one zillion complicated suspension and other systems in the truck, and, frankly, the nav and tech completely sucked compared to Toyota.

I am back to a 2016 LC and absolutely love it. Learned my lesson. I hope that, whatever Toyota does for the 300, they don't change it too much from what has made the 200 a success.

I literally did the exact same move as you. From a 200 to a 2016 RR Sport. My wife said it just didn't feel like a man's car... I kept it for 2 months. So I overcompensated and got a black G550 lol.

They'll probably be different seats - which is a bummer for those with screens they would like to remove.
I think this because Toyota already has 200s in other regions without the screens and there is no cover, they are different seats.

So if they're already offering the screens as optional with different seats in other regions - they are likely just to do that here in the US too.
