Hey all. I'm finding myself in a pinch here and need some advice. I have the front driveshaft pulled out of my 00 hundy and I am in the middle of replacing u-joints, and have discovered that my u-joints are not the proper ones. My issue is that the right u-joints are a couple of days away, and I'm leaving tomorrow on a six hour one-way trip, and the truck is fully loaded down with icefishing gear for six people. I know that guys run in 2-wheel drive temporarily but what are your thoughts on setting off on 12 hour road trip with only rearwheel drive. The truck seems to drive pretty much the same, and it's not likely that I will need four-wheel-drive.. So I guess my options are to drive the truck like it is, or take two separate vehicles which will be even less ideal. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

No issue with running in two wheel drive for any amount of time. However, when you get to a place where ice fishing is the activity, will 2 wheel drive get you in and out? (i live in phoenix so I have zero idea)

That makes me feel better. I guess my main concern would be adverse handling as the truck was designed to be full-time four-wheel-drive. I also was not sure if it is bad to run the center diff locked at freeway speeds as I've never been over 55 or 60 mph with it locked it before. If those are not issues, then I'm okay driving it like this until I can get the right parts. Thanks for the help

yess. just push the CDL button and hit the road.
If you didn't already, take the little bolts out of the flanges first, so that they don't jam or fall off.

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago! Decided to change the ujoints the night before a trip and found out I had the wrong ones and they are a dealer part only. I ended up borrowing one from a friend but if you don't think you need 4wd it will be fine to run with the center diff locked.

Excellent. I guess that is the plan then! I may just have to try some of that Saudi drifting that I've seen on the videos thread while I have it out. ;) thanks again guys!

Hmm......looks like maybe they are different? I see a production date column in the parts lists that might indicate 02-05 is different than 98-02.
