Nice work!

If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you in parts and machine work?

Hope you didn't run it long without coolant (as per your video). Even if the system as a whole doesnt warm up much, it can create hot spots and cause warping/cracking in the head and block....

It cost me close to $1000 CAD in parts and small tools. i also did the timing belt service. and got the engine mounts. plus the engine stand and hoist. no Machine work was done. I just did all the cleaning.

I sourced all my parts from Milner offroad based out of UK. they were considerably cheaper and quite a few parts were original Toyota. the quality , shipping etc was very nice.

I ran it max 30-40 seconds.

Cool, thanks! Now I know what I'm up against if I ever do a rebuild. Did you do a light cylinder hone yourself then? Is there any specific requirement for breaking in the rings/bearings? I know on gas engines you're supposed to keep the rpms down and not run full throttle or something to that effect.

Man, you should consider taking your EGR system and throttle plates out. I did this on my 2lte, and it made a huge difference to the engine. No more buildup of crap in the intake, easy starting with no smoke at all, way more low end power, lower egts, etc.

Here is a pic with the EGR junk removed on mine:

I hope you didnt get any of Milners seals? All their non OEM seals are crap, they fail almost immediately! Loads of us at the European Land Cruiser Owners Club http://www.landcruiserclub.net have had issues with them. Its a shame they havent sorted their seals out as most of their products are great and the service is generally good too.
