I am interested in knowing how dependable, easy to work on, efficient, and parts availability, for the 2L-TE engine. I've heard they require a larger radiator to keep from over heating.
Do they get good mileage?
Any words of wisdom?

Typical mileage seems to be high teens in town and low 20's on the highway, US mpg. The best I've seen so far with my 5-speed is 22.1 mpg.

It is more than a larger radiator. Be prepared to do a decent amount of work to make it where you aren't worried about it overheating. Bigger exhaust should be one of the first things on your list. Definitely give the thread Airhead linked a good read. Once you do work though, it should be reliable. It will never get what I would call good mileage.
