I doubt those are still available new, but you should be able to find a used one. Is yours for a manual or automatic transmission?

Often the capacitors inside will get old and leak, causing failures. It is possible for someone competent with electronics to remove them and solder in new ones.

I agree with AirheadNut; look for a used one.

The LJ78 ECU's seem to have way fewer issues than the KZJ78 ones had, but yeah, could be bad capacitors for sure.

The most common problem I've repaired on ECU's are caused by either a reverse voltage condition (someone hooking up battery backwards), or an overvoltage condition (alternator regulator/rectifier issues). In both those cases, the large protection diode(s) on main power into the ECU are damaged/shorted (doing their job protecting the sensitive electronics). Replacing those diodes usually does the trick to repair the ECU. It's amazing how tough they are. Look at ECU pinout diagram and trace the power input to the protection parts to identify them. Replace with an equivalent part if it's damaged.

Are you sure your ECU is even the cause of the problems you're having?
