Started her up late this afternoon & took her for a spin around the block. Turbo seemed to be spinning ok, but nothing spectacular. So I headed home and adjusted the fuel screw out one turn, and wow what a difference!!:bounce::clap: I took it up a hill that I would normally just make it up in 3rd gear, and it sailed up in 4th gear still gaining at the top. Can't wait to try it with a couple of ton on the trailer!! But I think I will wait till I've fitted the EGT guage before I push it too hard.:grinpimp: I just had a rough work out of costs, approx NZ$340 for all the bits (not counting the amount the guy who welded the broken housing is going to charge me) and about 12 hours of my time to make flanges and fit the whole thing. Here's some pics of the job.:cheers:

Hey, that's nice!

Congratulations and let us know how it does with the trailer! :cheers:

Just got back from a trip down the coast for 6 days towing a 15' caravan loaded up with 4 mountain bikes, food, gas bottles and enough gear to sustain the wife and two teenage daughters for a year!:doh: Cruiser ran real good - better than expected:clap: Turbo boosted 9lb max, and egt got up to approx 1180 deg F only on a long uphill stretch (outside air temp 32 deg C) I have also opened up the muffler and welded in a pipe to by-pass the baffling (In NZ, law says there must be a visible muffler in the system) It's not noisey at all (was hoping for more volume:o) That makes the turbo spool up a little sooner, which helps with gear changes on hills. Very happy with the turbo! :grinpimp: I recomend fitting one to any 2H, It breaths life into an otherwise lazy motor;):cheers:

:cool:Big difference for sure, makes the 2H come alive.:bounce::bounce:
Well done K1W1.:beer::beer:

Here's an update on the turbo job - just in case anyone was wondering ;)
Over 3 years and approx 22000 kms and all is well. Engine is running great and very reliable. I don't drive it every day, sometimes it will sit for a couple of weeks, but it always starts first turn. :cheers:

Nice one. Do the WOF guys hassle you about it?

I've never had an issue with wof Dougal. I always take it to my local garage for wof inspections, and nothing has been said. It's not like it's dangerous - like some of these over turbod rice burners getting around these days :D

Good to hear. Some are overly picky, most see it for what it is. The advantage with these older trucks is the original configuration of your vehicle isn't known by most wof stations. Trying to spot the difference between a factory turbo that's been hacked about over the years and an aftermarket install can be pretty tricky.

Would like to put one on my 2H but here in the state the cost is $3,000. Could you send more details on you setup. I'd pay you $600 if you could ship me one...

Hi FJ, There's not much to it. I picked the turbo up off a stuffed 12HT at a local junk yard and fitted it myself using my original exhaust manifold flipped upside down and some exhaust tubing to adapt it :cheers:

Hi Garry
Think you could find another one? I be willing to pay you.
Thanks
Joe G.

nice score with the 12H-T CT26 .. did you have tacho .? to tell us which it's your full boost range .?

It boosts max 10.5lb at 2000 rpm. Perfect for towing at open road speeds (90-100kph) in 4th gear and not too hard on the motor. I have adjusted the fuel so the EGTs don't get too high, even on long climbs. :cheers:
