Hi, does anyone know if an older 2h engine oil spinner (I think pre- 1985) would simply bolt onto a newer 1988 2h engine? The mount looks the same.

Thank you in advance

I know it works the oposite .. ( guys who don't want the oil spinner and install bolt on the new filter base )

hmm, somewhat encouraging. Thank you! So hopefully it can bolt on.

Looking at 'tojo 4wd'shop, oil filter mount gaskets, the oil return hole into the block is larger on the older 2h, which makes sense.

Guessing, ( I know one shouldn't), perhaps the oil pressure was set slightly higher on the pre '84 2h engines. As there is more than likely some pressure drop when the spinner kicks in. Hopefully not much, as it looks little in scale and very direct location access to the filter.

I wonder why someone would take it off?! Besides extra time cleaning it, some extra noise when spinning, possible leaks if o'rings are not kept in check. Perhaps the unit fails, although being a simple mechanism.

We should all want cleaner engine oil, all the time.

This design application and location seems much more straight forward than installing a newer aftermarket centrifuge oil cleaner.

The newer ones such as the spinner II appear to be a bit of pain to install on the 2h as the return oil requires to enter at the sump.

Does anyone think the dip stick hole could be modified?

Another possible option I wonder about is using a 'jackmaster' oil bypass sandwich adapter which fits onto the original 2h oil filter mount and gives three new ports to access oil. One would require an electric pump to operate the spinner, but it would be neater than butchering the sump. Although, as far as I can see, aftermarket oil bypass manufacturers recommend return oil to go to the sump.
Any thoughts?

Continuing research...If the old spinner does not work perhaps the dieselcraft oc 25 may be the next best option as it does not need such a large gravity fed return oil line. I do not like the air pump sound they supply represented on the video though. Perhaps a silent 12v aquarium pump would be better to ensure constant oil flow would be more pleasant to not hear.

Can answer my own question after sourcing an old spinner, no. Different size, probably would need to change the oil cooler side of the block.

Going for a jackmaster, tops bloke.
