I have an 81 HJ47 and it has a remote keychain with an engine kill switch on it. Is this standard equipment or is it something the PO added? It is kind of a PITA because I have to push the button every time I want to start the truck. Also, it seems to be acting up and sometimes won't let the truck shot off.

PO added.

You might want to find it and de-activate it. At least know what box it routes thru. Or you will get stranded one day.

I like kill switches though. Just hidden and a simple toggle.

Here is mine. The little red light (by the throtle knob) is attached to a black box under the dash. Haven't had a chance to see where it goes from there.

Hey @brownbear. Old thread that I would like to revive. What circuit would you use: starter relay? or another that is less obvious (allowing thief to turn over the starter but engine not firing up - EDIC or glow plug relay most probably, the rest is all mechanic, not electric?).
