Bought a 1989 HJ60 and going through the motions of getting it on the road. Noticed a pretty hefty hum that seems like it’s coming from the harmonic balancer or at least the pulley. Bit of an oil leak from there, but it goes away with a slight increase in idle. Oil pressure running high under load, dropped oil and replaced filter but still high.

Ripped the belts off to see if it would make a difference but still here. Love some advice before I start digging in to replace harmonic balancers etc etc.

The Diesel Section would be a better place to post this.

Sounds like a perfectly normal 2H to me.. and I've got a reasonable amount of experience with this engine. Audio can be difficult for this kind of thing though.

Oil pressure is often high with cold oil, let it warm up and reassess and of course a test gauge to get an actual PSI reading is worthwhile. But if you're not blowing apart oil filters you're probably fine. There is an issue with stuck pressure relief valves on the 2H thats worth keeping in mind (see the guide at my diesel site linked below on this issue). Direct link to the specific guide ->
