I need some quick help. I'm attempting to get the timing cover off my 1981 2H diesel. I've looked everywhere and can't get the size of the pulley bolt. I've tried to measure it and it looks between 44mm and 45mm. The only place I've seen the size mentioned, it was stated at 46mm. These impact sockets cost a pretty penny, so I don't want to order the wrong size. Any real time help will be much appreciated.

What year is your 2H?

Thanks for the reply. Nice truck! My Truck is a 1981, they probably didn't change the cranckshaft bolt size on the 2H for a few years (if ever). What year is your engine?

VWLUV,
I spent some time in Maryland on a military base in Hartford County. Edgewood Arsenal, now part of Aberdeen Proving Grounds. 1973-1974. I'm not aging myself am I? My dad was in the Army, I was in middle school. Loved it there.

I'm not sure what year it is. I was told an 81 when it was for sale, but then again judging by the wear I found it surely didnt have the 167,000km I was told. It is an early liner engine so that makes it what, pre 1985 I think?

P.S. I love everything about MD except the politics.

Got the 45 mm socket today

Cranckshaft pulley is off, next is the timing cover.
