Hi Everybody!

I am getting ready to TBI my 2F 60. I stripped all the TBI stuff from a pair of 1500 trucks at the junk yard the other day and got it all for $100. I really want to keep my costs down on this so I need to avoid buying a prom burner. I was hoping that someone out there would be kind enough to burn their 2f image into my proms if I send them along in the mail. So how about it, can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

TBI 60

I have the Troolhole kit installed by Troohole and it is wonderful to say the least, He's a good guy send him a message or if you just wait I am sure he will see the post. Don't know if his contractual arrangement will allow him to do what your asking but he is helpful at all times. :)

subb'd... This is something that I am looking to do to mine to alleviate having to mess with the ignition [STRIKE]should the points go[/STRIKE]. Eventually I will swap to a trollhole carb and his TBI kit but that will be a little ways off.

Wait, points? I'm guessing it's not a 60 that this 2F is in...

Sorry head is congested and full of daytime sinex.... please disregard the points comment.:bang:

I run a TBI 2f but I don't know if I can or for that matter HOW to burn it for you. I bought a system from AFI. There are several places I have seen that sell chips would that help?

From reading other threads I know there are a few guys on mud that have a burner. I am hoping that one of them will read this thread and respond. I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible which pretty much precludes buying a chip online.

I was under the impression the ecm from a 4.3 v6 tbi would run the 2f quite well. Obviously a custom chip is the best but if you really don't have the money I'm pretty sure more than a few guys have run that ecm with satisfactory results

A friend did this, it ran, but not very well. He had a chip burned based on data logging by Brian at TBIchips.com. He also did the burning for my TBI 350 and it runs super strong.

I bought a bunner and everything to do the custom chips in my 2f tbi and its a pain in the ass to get right and you have to solder a new carrier to fit the chips that you can use. After spending all that time and effort I ended up just using a 4.3l computer with the origanal prom with my 350 tbi, the idles a little rich but its easy to live with. With the 350 tbi and the 4.3L computer I can get upwards of 16mpg if I run 65-70. The only difference between the 4.3 and 350 tbi units are the injector sizes. I would recomend new sensors but I ran the old ones from a truck with 100K+ miles for over a year but I really saw an improvement when I put in a new IAC valve and O2 sensor.

I can burn 28 pin 27SF512 EEPROM chips with my AutoProm if your ECM has been modded from 24 to 28 pin. I can't do 24 pin chips.

As for the bin I'd burn, the only 2F bin I have is the 2F_TBI.bin file that I snagged from here or a mailing list a few years ago. I've never ran it so I can't vouch for it's correctness.

If all the above suits your needs, mail me a chip and I'll mail it back. I'll need to know other things, too, like if you are running a VSS, the ESC module and knock sensor, etc.

it's odd the interest now in this. I did the prototype work on this in the early 90's for man-a-fre but there was no interest. Adapters for everything from the 4.3 tbi to manifold, knock sensor mount , stock air cleaner to tbi, etc. I still run one and love it. All the flat spots in the powerband went away and fuel mileage jumped from 11 to 16. No one would buy it. Hopefully Trollhole has better luck. Kind of like FJ80 lift kit parts. Five years after I discontinued them I get a barrage of e-mails for them

I can burn the image for you, but I'm all the way out in the serengeti.

I'd guess two changes are in play:
1. Fuel is now more expensive.
2. Carbs & associated smog parts are old, worn, broken.

Yotajosh: that would be excellent. I actually ordered, received, and promptly lost 10 of those 27SF512 EEPROMS. So, I will have to reorder before I can take you up on your offer. PM me your address please.

Rhiner: your last name wouldn't happen to be Ocerous would it? I think I met your brother Bob Ocerous down by the watering hole last time I was over there.

PM'd.

2X on loving it Trollhole put the prototype unit in my 60 and we are still working on a few odd's and ends (odd 02 sensor readings etc.) but I also saw a big jump in mileage, and driveability in all situations, and starting is now just hit the key. So your's has been in for nearly 10 years what kind of maintance issues have you had related to the TBI?
