I had the DUI distributor self destruct one time. Not impressed with their response. I go through each one now and bush the weights and add the E-clips on the weight shafts that they leave off. I replaced an O-2
sensor and 2 water temp sensors.
I recently installed a Howell on a customers truck. Haven't done any mileage checks but it starts cold and runs smooth like it should. The big difference in TBI is the disappearance of so many of the flat spots in the powerband, and the jump in fuel mileage. Before, 12mpg was a great day. After TBI 16 was a great day. I'm not running overdrive. A throttle body 350 still gets better mileage and more power but really only 1~1.5 mpg better in a wagon. In my 40, with a turbo 400 ( non overdrive) I got 2~3 mpg better average than the wagon in either configuration.
In the next couple weeks I'll throw on of the older Man-a-fre systems on my sisters 60. She's got a
5 speed and recently rebuilt hi compression 2-F. I'm curious how that will do
