The 2f in my 82 FJ60 seems to get a little hot on warmer days. It goes just above the half, once it gets there it idles at 1500, when it cools the idle comes back down. The guy I just bought it from replaced all the thing he thought would cause it. What could be the problem?

Hey Mike,

Is this the one you've been doing all the work desmogging on?
Have you really burped the system? Air in the cooling system will frequently cause this.

No it's a new one I bought my wife 2 days ago. He replaced the radiator and the thermostat. When I went to burp the system, I discovered he did not replace the Radiator cap:hillbilly: Easy fix. But why did the idle go way up. It did not even overheat, it just went 3/4 to the red. Mabey a manifold leak once it gets hott? It only did it that once though. Thanks Scott

Another 60 series cruiser? After what you've been through with yours? I suppose you're nearly an expert by now!

I'm not sure about the increased idle. You might check the A/C idle up speed, although I don't knw what that would have to do with the engine temp. The BVSV valves are connected to the vacuum system and are heat controlled. Perhaps that is it?

Any pics of your new cruiser?
