on my 1979 fj40 that has been sitting for a year, we tried a few weeks ago to get it running but no success. i am going to do a complete restoration on the truck and am not sure why it wont start. my cousin a pulled out a wiring harness out under the body of the truck in the rear , it was for the tail lights. my dad had put a electric fuel pump on it a few years ago. my thought is it could be out of gas??? do electric fuel pumps run all the time even with the key off????? if we cant get it started should i drain the oil and all the fluids or just leave the oil in the block??? i plan on using the 2F engine in it . what should i do??? i am not going to be able to do anything until mid december. thanks please reply

Did you try checking for spark?

Did you smell fuel?

If you did not smell fuel, did you try pouring a little gas down the carb?

If you are going to let it sit, leave fluids in it if it will be in the truck. If you are going to pull the engine to work on it, drain it before you remove it.

Good luck!
