265/75 16 as a spare w 285/75 16 ok?

I found a tire calculator that said the diff is 1.18 inches. How much of a problem would that be?
 
It's not a big problem if you don't lock things up and don't go too fast or too far.

But if you don't have it already, there may be a better match out there. Isn't one of the 255 close? Like the 255/85 or something like that?

Thanks guys, I found a used one 94 percent tread left the same size.
 
He was rounding up from 93.785%...
 
265/75/16 tires

I use that size of tire on my 94 L/C and considering that size on the LX470 they are the same size within .1 of inch of the OEM sized tires. As a spare there should be no problem.
 
Think of the little donut spares compared to the full size and think of the difference in rotation between inside and outside tires on a sharp turn. Your diffs can certainly handle this for short term use provide you don't lock them on a solid surface ( as mentioned above).

Although it sounds like you did the better thing and get a matching spare.
