There’s no definitive answer on tires.

255/75R17s are like 32” skinny tires and will require close to zero mods to fit.

However, a lot of people want taller and/or fatter tires. Now you have to deal with rubbing issues, spare location starts to be an issue, heavier tire reduces gas mileage, need the right wheel with the appropriate offset, UCAs upgrade, etc.

If you want to deal with all that, then 285/70/17s is a very popular size. It’s only like 32,7” tall and fat but lots of people like this look. I have this tire.

Sometimes I wish I had the 255/80/17s on narrower wheels, but even this 33” tire starts to have issues fitting in the spare location.

There’s a famous tire/wheel thread on here somewhere as well as a tire:wheel knowledge base at LexusGxor.com
Hi. Im getting ready to purchase new tires and noticed that according to the faq page 285/70/17 should fit stock with no issues. Do I understand correctly that is what you run and have no issues? For what it's worth they will be going on Icon Rebounds which are 25mm offset. Thanks!

Ok tires are installed, and so far so good... much quieter and smoother than the worn BFG's they replaced.

The front is looking really good with the grille and the bumper. I'm surprised you are still running the stock oem wheels with the +25 offset, but saves on cash by keeping them. I think the 255/75R17 is the perfect size for the stock oem wheels. @nakman...I almost forgot to ask you if you considered the Kenda Klever R/Ts in 33x10.5 on the stock oem wheels. I've been wondering if they would fit without much rubbing.

No, you read it wrong. The 285s will rub and will require a lot of mods to get them not to rub. And getting wheels with a +25 offset is a waste! The +25 offset will restrict your tire choices since it's similar to the stock oem wheels.

A much better setup is to get 17x8.5 wheels with a zero offset. This type of wheel will allow you to run all the most popular tire sizes from skinny talls to the fat 285s. However, 285s require a lot of mods to get them to stop rubbing even with these new wheels.

@HomersCanyonero thanks! I like the stock rims, and shoot I've got an extra set of 5 I can't seem to give away even. Yeah I did consider the Kenda Klever, have a couple friends who run them and so far they're working well for them. I just couldn't get excited about it though... didn't want to do BFG again, so was down to the Falcons, Toyo AT3's, and these guys... saw a few more videos and decided to go for it. I think they're going to do really well in the conditions out here.
